I argee with CM - I mean every "bust", never really affected most people I know access to illegal substances, despite whatever the cops or the government says.

^maybe it does in less tangible ways. perhaps it effects price and narrows the range. occassionally i cant score the biscuits and have to settle for meth. sometimes my supply runs completely dry. maybe thats not a bad thing anyway.

A slightly more detailed account of the story. Very impressed at the lengths the "importers" had gone to in secreting their product. I'll never look at a wonton the same way again.

As others have said, a bust this size may impact the quality of pills on the street for a while, so please make sure you test all good prior to purchase! Be safe. I'd rather go without than eat something unknown.

Yeah, i think that it would have to have some impact on the market. I think it is naive to believe that 340kg of mdma powder seized in Aus isn't going to effect what would have otherwise been around in the coming months. However, obviously there are a few key importers plus many small time operations, that will, see to it that theres always pills to be had, somewhere.

I think it effects the end users more when cops do those month long *hard-crackdowns-on-club-dealers* operations. Where everyones favourite club 10-pack dealer eitehr get's busted or all he's mates get busted and he's to paranoid to come out to the club with anything. They're the sort of things that fuck us up. I think a 340kg seize is gonna give hell to people further up the chain, but basically, means jack shit to end users.

Spot on melburn_madness and there may be clues to how they're gunna do it in the media release to The Australian:

340kg to make 1.36million pills = 250mg MDMA per pill hmmmmm...

250mg pill for $50 ($68million divided by $1.36million pills)

If i'm not mistaken NSW police/Customs are trying to go back to the "good old days" with this sort of quality.

The way they calculate value of street prices are the on going value chain cost...

ie. importer / distributor / sub distributor / dealers ///end user'

so end user pays x + dealers pays y + subs distributor pays z so in the end it ends up x+y+z which adds up to alot

An acquaintance has provided me with many a lab result in my time and 100mg is about right.

When the lab report says 70mg or 100mg or 150mg thats the amount of PURE MDMA in the pill - it doesnt mean that there isnt another 50mg or so of impurities along with the binder however.

The lowest I saw was 60mg, the highest 158mg. Many were between 80 and 100mg. Most pills I'd describe as very good to0 excellent were 100-120mg.

Therefore the figure is right - however i agree that without lab results you cannot know how much MDMA you have.


IMO this is a HUGE bust. 3.4 million pills - probably a lot more if they watered it down to 80mg pills.

When considered with the WHOLE population (that means including pensioners, parents, children, very poor people etc) the number of people actually using MDMA is very small. I have no idea how many but it cannot be more than a few percent.

I'd say a casual guess at that bust is enough for 7-8 pills for every user in the country. (A very very rough guestimate)

It is substantial - It would have been pressed into pills in my opinion over some degree of time. I do not think they would make 3.4 million at once. Therefore if this powder was destined to "last" a relatively lengthy duration it could affect supply. Who really knows.

Of course the distribution may be such that the powder is supplied to many local "pressers" throughout the country rather than just a couple.

This bust does prove that the trend is definitely imported MDMA powder pressed here. That of course allows the pressers to add other ingredients such as cheap amphetamines that would never be added in the Netherlands because amphetamines are not nearly as readily available and therefore cheap. And why would you bother adding any of those when you have the biggest supply of MDMA in the globe at your doorstop.

That's alot of powder but I would imagine our pill consumption per week would be so huge it's not funny. So it might get dry in some areas for a very short period of time but overall I don't think it will do much.

i dont even use E anymore, but i think this is fucken brilliant. Not that all this powder got seized, that's a shame. But damn, 350kg of mdma in one go, not too mention how much other mdma must be around Aus atm, this means that there is a lot more ecstacy users than is commonly shown in statistics.

I mean, thats 3.5mill GOOD pills right there, plus let's say even if all the other mdma powder in Aus right now only added up to half that amount, thats another 1.75mill worth of pills that you must assume would be floating round if 350kg was just one bust.

I reckon like 10% of the country must take E's at least occasional. Hell, even Jack from neighbours is down with the scene

Interesting info Biscut. 150mg is a huge dose, which probably would be too much for even seasoned drug users.
