So I was prescribed Moclobemide a few years ago and later found out it was dangerous to take with MDMA thanks to this website! (No doctors told me there would be any interaction but I wasn't expecting them to...So Bluelight saved a life.)

I did use them at a very low dose with MDMA and also stopped for a while then took MDMA. I have been prescribed Phenelzine which has a half life of roughly 11 hours compared to Moclobemide's 1-2 hours. So i'm guessing this is an even more dangerous MAOI to take with MDMA than Moclobemide and I would need to stop taking the Phenelzine for a few weeks to be safe or I could still take it as it is only 15mg three times a day whereas Moclobemide was 300mg.
 
Don't even think about doing this. Death would be a real possibility. With maoi's like these, the half life of the drug doesn't actually tell you anything about how long the effects last. Phenelzine is an irreversible maoi. This means that it permanently disables the enzymes in your body. If you stop taking the medication, the effects will still persist because of this. It can take up for a month for your body to replace the disabled enzymes with new ones, so even though the half life is only a few hours, the duration of the effects is on the order of several weeks.
 
Deffinitly not something to be messing around with at all. If you escape death from this combo you'll most likely have some serious damage.
 
Ok, So it's been two days since I had mdma. mdma should be out of my system so i should be able to take Nardil now? it's only 15mg three times a day and i used to take Moclobemide which was 300mg and back in my stupid days i used to take Moclobemide with mdma to enhance the effect. I did this combination for about a year with no bad interactions, I know I can't say that just because I took it for about a year with mdma that's not to say the next time it will be safe.

My point is this time i'm not mixing the two. It's been two days since i've had mdma.

You are kinda saying that it is not nearly as bad as Folley is making it out to be (months? 2 weeks tops I'd say, that is the generally accepted time between taking SSRIs and MAOIs, MDMA shouldn't be much different). And although Phenelzine is an "irreversible" MAOI, your body is naturally regenerating MAOIs all the time, it is just a matter of them getting back to normal levels after stopping Nardil or Parnate. Unfortunately, although Folley is right about it being dangerous, it becomes hard to take his advice seriously when one has already mixed the two without noticeable side effects several times.
It's just a bad idea and potentially lethal. That's all. No need to go ballistic about it.
 
If you only start taking the maoi after the mdma and its metabolites have left your system, there is not a problem. The problem is taking the maoi before or at the same time as the mdma.
