St johns worth upregulates 5HT and anecdotes show it can reverse mdma tolerance wich indicates loss of magic has nothing to with losing neurons, sure you may lose some its unclear but you dont need them all to keep the magic.
I highly doubt mdma depletes serotonin in humans, its a indicator of braindamage and the damage shown in mdma abusers is minimal at best or non existant in people with protective genes.
Then again maybe piracetam also helps the brain recover faster because the AMPA modulation facilitates repair signals (ranging from serotonin receptor replenishment to the dreaded neural cell death mentioned in some of these posts) to function more readily or stay active longer when the brain really needs it. Again not a prevention of the "toxicity" (if you consider receptor downregulation or excessive neural stimulation that) but a way to help recovery.
It dramatically potentiates serotogenics like psychedelics too indicating increased receptor sensivity, rapidly reduced sensitivity causes the comedown so that probably explains it.
Repair signals are nice and dandy but repair of sero neurons takes 4 weeks at best so that aint it.
Are you saying that Memantine is ineffective at preventing neurotoxicity when taken before a roll? That goes against what I've read in other threads. And if so, why does it help with the comedown week so much?
Thats what im saying yeah, it helps because it upregulates 5HT, as i just said downregulation causes the comedown not neurotoxiticy. Unless your brain repairs neurons like you would be as fast when on amp, but thats unlikely so it will take weeks before any damage is reversed,,the comedown is gone far sooner.
Unless your one of the guys claiming mdma caused permanent damage, however when ruling out poly drug use mdma abuse doesnt appear to cause long term issues (the study's were only small tough so we cant say for sure) i think rather they triggered an underlying disorder like predromal shizo instead of causing braindamage, could be wrong offcourse but i could be right as well, who knows.
Perhaps this is because MDMA causes uneven neuron loss in different areas of the brain, "limiting" the experience qualitatively in some way because the receptors are now gone in an uneven pattern, giving a different "color" to the MDMA experience. To be fair, however, some users have reported success in "returning the magic" with SJW therapy, but I feel like it's such an uncontrolled experiment (varying strength of pills, set, setting, mood, etc.) it's really difficult to give merit to this as "proof" one way or another. I've had sober nights rivaling that of a mild roll. If I was in an amazing mood, really stoked to see my favorite band, it would take only a modest "boost" to give me an epic "roll."
I never noticed a amazing mood made a roll better, probably because i allways kept popping a shitload of mdma, enough will make it as good in a shitmood or a bad setting.
Strenght of pills doesnt matter either, if they were weak i just kept popping a few more, when i was tolerant took like 5 of 120mg at once, i dont recommened this tough but i cant see how weak pills may make you seem tolerant, just pop more.
Perhaps its differened for americans as mdma is extremely expensive there, here its cheaper then a beer so you can buy shitloads damn cheap, if i had to pay the american price i could only afford a couple and then yes i wont roll much if they are weaker.
