Hi guys!

I have been experiencing a 2 months long term comedown from mdma use not even abuse.

My symptoms are:

-Anxiety
- feelings of being spaced out, in a daze, like in a dream, feelings of irreality maybe derealization.

I have to say that things have gotten a bit better during those last 2 months but I am really still out of it.

What intrigues me very much is that those feelings of anxiety, derealization and being disassociated usually stop in the evenings around 7pm.

It drives me crazy, I feel terrible in the mornings but almost normal in the evenings nights, I almost feel like even my cognition comes back sharper at night, like if a become sharper and more intelligent.

Every night is the same, i go to bed hoping that I will wake up in the same mental state as I finish the day but that never becomes true.

I also have to say that I had one day after a full month of my long term comedown that I felt almost good again, no anxiety, no derealization, no decline in cognitive abilities etc...

So if I had one full day of feeling almost normal after a month long comedown then I must hope that this is not brain damage what I am experiencing but it has to be some kind of anxiety disorder created by substance use like MDMA.

Please help, I hope somebody can relate to this, looking for advice and support.

Have you guys being there? same symptoms? Have you recovered? How long it took you?

Do you also feel normal at night but shit in the morning?

Any information will be highly appreciated.

2months / 8 weeks isn't a very long time in the grand scheme of things. keep looking after yourself and give it some more time. you said it has already begun to improve that is a good sign. have you been doing anything particular to help yourself along? some people recommend yoga or meditation, personally i found healthy diet and plenty of strenuous exercise helped. stay positive. see you around.

you play tennis? you cannot be serious!

Hey laugh!

Did you experienced a long term comedown? Can you describe me what were your symptoms like and how much have you recovered? How long it took you to recover?

in a nutshell; about a year of abstinence from MDMA and most other drugs to recover from years of at times heavy abuse of various substances. suicidal, depression, anxiety, lethargy, those were the worst issues. there is no short cut to recovery, there is no magic bullet, it takes time and common sense, by common sense i mean simply looking after oneself. catch up on sleep, eat well, and exercise. it is really important to try to stay positive, looking after yourself, eating well and exercising helps one feel good about oneself. its just common sense. i feel as though i have made a full %100 recovery, time will tell if or how much damage i did to memory etc but as for now my memory and neural function/cognition is as good as it ever was. I'm late 20s.

stay positive. sitting online and looking for issues is not going to help. get on with life and keep yourself busy and active and stay positive. you are not the only person to have issues and you certainly won't be the last. stay positive. 'you are what you think'. all the best.

I thought a CT scan would determine any damage?

Think Tennis went over his head

I'm sure a ct scan would help as would fmri functional magnetic resonance imaging or just mri, pet, a combination of all available technology would be good but would maybe cause more distress than is actual worth. i think neural plasticity is also quite important. the brain is incredibly adaptive and has great ability to recover form trauma.

paradox; learning may depend more on elimination of relatively inactive neural pathways than the formation of new neural pathways.

Feeling terrible in the mornings is really common symptom for anxiety sufferers man. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that you have brain damage, and even if you did it wouldn't be permanent. Read 'complete self help for your nerves' by Dr Claire Weekes. It will probably answer all of your questions, and it teaches you how to recover from the anxiety state.

lololol yeah i'm sure i'm ok. No results returned any damage

Yep. Nothing, all on the PBS. Very Expensive hospital bill!!!!! But once again, on the PBS

Honestly, it sounds like you're just under stress and suffering from high levels of cortisol. The reason you feel like yourself at night and worst in the morning is because cortisol levels are highest early in the day and decline significantly with sundown.

I think you should stop fretting over MDMA "damage"(remember, you didn't abuse it) and more on how to ease your levels of stress(not least of which is to stop fretting over MDMA "damage" :P).

Start working out, eat healthy, do breathing exercises and yoga, pick up an old hobby, listen to a lot of music and get laid. I promise you you'll feel MUCH better after a week or two.

MDMA hasn't fried your brain, period. Rather, the anxiety and 'spaced-out' feeling you are experienced is fueled by your own anxiety and panic. In other words, its all in your head.

Furthermore, I'm convinced some people confuse they MDMA afterglow with being somehow permanently messed up. MDMA has not changed your brain, you are causing this spaced out and stressed feeling yourself.
