I'm sure i posed this before but i can find it, sorry if so.

I messed myself up on mdma years back and as a result got on paxil, which was a lifesaver, but didnt fix everything.
Made things easier but underlying irrational anxiety and ptsd symptoms persisted

Anyways, i saw somebody here mention a while back that this damage gets repaired after about 7 years.
Is this true? Cant find any info.

Reason is i have noticed recently almost exactly 7 years later that my issues have pretty much vanished with no change in life or meds. Its pretty awesome
Well i take meth now but im sure this didnt help.

I hope this is the case, can be new hope for sufferers? Thanks.

When me and my pals used to muck around with MDMA (in pill and powder form) we'd take 6 months off when the comedowns got too bad. Last time I took it was about 6 yers ago. If you're waiting for your brain to get back to its normal balance, 7 years sounds like more than enough time. Remember it's rare that drugs cause mental health issues, more likely unlock a pre-existing condition. Probably best to stay away from meth as I doubt this will be doing your brain any favours!

Hi blight12:)

You clearly believe your depression has been caused by the use of MDMA. It would be easy for me to say the drug use is not related, to be fair real evidence of this is somewhat patchy and is far form an established medical fact but that does still leave the possibility.

I used MDMA heavily for over 8 years, but it was almost 10 years later when I eventually sought treatment for depression, the general view after therapy was that I had some quite serious issues long before I started any drug use. MDMA was all the more attractive to me because is brought the happiness that I so desperately wanted along side a real sense of belonging around the culture that went with it.

Whether or not MDMA has had an impact on your mental health is a question you will never have a truly genuine answer for and TBH it wouldn't help you now anyway. Concentrate your energy on becoming well in every way you can, talking therapies like CBT can work in much deeper ways than ADs and give you the tools to improve your own situation. We are, in so many ways the product of our own history, embrace your true self good and bad and work with it, don;t view yourself as a damaged individual you are a perfect example of you:)
