MDMA Comedown... Really bad body twitching

What up BL... Ok, so this question is in regards to my girlfriend. Here's a little bit of history. She used to have a Xanax addiction and got to a point where she ran out, couldn't get any, and had a Grand Mal Seizure. We used to roll frequently back in the day, and now as we have got a tad older it has slowed down. We would come down and never have problems other than the come down.

Ok, here is my question. Whenever we do stimulants of any kind (Cocaine or Ecstasy [no speed]) whenever she is coming down, her body (hands, fingers, legs) will tense up, or twitch. Last night we consumed some quality MDMA (tested), and I noticed when she was sleeping her body every 5-10 seconds would twitch. She made a weird noise when breathing in, and I looked over at her and her face almost looked as if she was having a seizure because it was twitching. I get it, no on here is a Dr. and can not give me quality advice other than to see an actual Dr.

What I want to know is, what is this? Has anyone heard of this before? Is there a link you can post? I noticed these effects happening to her AFTER she had the seizure. We waited 6 months before we consumed anything after that event and she felt up to it. She had a great roll, happy and life was perfect all night. We only consumed 2 pills and my guess is that is 160mg (just speculation). It is just at the very end, and it literally lasted for hours. Any advice Bluelighters? Thanks.

i found some information that might be of use:

It is possible that she is running out of serotonin. Last Dec 2 i took 6 pills of mdma and the next night I could not sleep. Everytime I try to fall asleep my body would twitch and it wakes me up. This went away for a few days though.. I think this all relates to serotonin.. your girlfriend might be running out of serotonin since you mentioned that she was addicted to xanax? SSRI's does affect serotonin in the brain.. I found another article that might be of use:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSRI_withdrawal_syndrome

I am not expert but I am still having some issues from serotonin imbalance. I think most people call what I experienced Brain zaps and this is because my serotonin got really low. I think that she shouldn't roll for a good year and consume supplements here is my regimen at the moment which seems to be helping:

Multivitamins - once a day

Omega fish oil - three times a day

Vitamin c - twice a day

Magnesium malate - once a day

Vitamin D - once a day

Most importantly exercise.. today I did half an hour of cardio and I felt fantastic! I think she should be fine as long as she doesnt roll for a while

Good luck :)

Did she stay properly hydrated throughout the night? That's my first thought.

Edit: I reread the original post, and what I should have asked is if she's staying properly hydrated in general.

I would wager that a low dose of anti-anxiety/anti-seizure medication like Diazepam/Xanax/clonazepam on the comedown would likely block this effect, since she has had problems with it in the past though it may not be a good idea..

Perhaps a more herbal type drug, but I can't say how effective that would be.

If your girl is having seizures maybe illegal substenances aren't the way to go. If youre prone to seizures, you should stay away from ecstasy which can give you a seizure. It's just not very smart. Also she shouldn't be doing cocaine either. No drugs for the little one. It's really not worth the risk.

Pretty_Diamonds is right. I learned the hard way myself doing these drugs and now still suffering from the consequences. I am gettin better though been clean for almost three months and I feel that the side effects are lesser and lesser everyday.

I remember after doing 600mg of MDMA from two different sources (300mg first night, 300mg second night) over the weekend, I was trying to fall asleep after hours of tweaky comedown in the living room....I got twitching, but not like every 10 seconds though. This is probably linked to serotonin. Some people can handle comedowns A LOT better than others.. its up to genetics, health and mindset as well. If you get shitty comedowns, do less MDMA and smoke a LOT of weed when coming down is my advice
Lesson is: Dont't take too much mdma, cause even if you dont get really depressed... your body will notice heavy use in other ways like twitching, dizzyness, anxiety in some people, loss of appetite..

She isn't "having" seizures, she had 1 seizure one time from xanax withdrawal last year. We waited quite some time to consume and she was fine. We don't do drugs on the regular either. We don't smoke, drink or do anything anymore. We used cocaine on her birthday which was a one time occurence, and MDMA 3 times since the seizure last year. We are not over-doing it. I appreciate all the advice given, and I do think it may be linked to low serotonin. I need to get her to start working out, that probably will help. Again, we do not consume drugs at an alarming rate. Thanks again though guys, I appreciate the time/concern. And yes, we stayed hydrated all night. Her and I both drink 3-4 bottles of water every single day.

Having one seizure puts her in a dangerous position. Normal healthy people just don't go having seizures. 1 year ago is still pretty recent. I don't mean to offend you and I'm sure you guys are working really hard on staying healthy but if you're noticing strange side effects from drug use that weren't there prior to the seizure-- you should probably stop.

no no no, I take 0 offense. You took YOUR time to offer me some advice, and I greatly appreciate it. I agree with what you have to say as well, and we are going to continue on with our sobriety. The only reason I downplayed it was because of Xanax effects "Gaba" in your brain. I realize, a healthy person just does not seize up, but we both looked at it as she only had the seizure BECAUSE of low levels of gaba. But yes, regardless, she is prone to seizure. Thank you for your advice.
