MDMA and pseudoseizures/psychogenic seizures

Hello all,

I need some guidance as to a question that has recently come into light, hence my registration and post.

My girlfriend wants to try MDMA/ecstacy. I am certain the product I can get my hands on is of a very good standard as I have tried it myself, but the problem is that she is prone to pseudoseizures. They are not real seizures and she is not epileptic. She is being followed by a neurologist for them but medicine has found no reliable cure. Anti-convulsants offer absolutely no relief, for example. What happens is that when her emotions get too strong, or even when she is touched in some ways (such as tickling), parts of her body start convulsing as if it were a real seizure, but she doesn't blackout. She is not faking seizures but it is a psychological response, there is a big difference between the two. The most common I've seen are hand/finger convulsions where she flicks her fingers repeatedly with no control over it. I've also seen it happen when she gets overstimulated by strobe lights. This happens on and off but generally multiple times per week.

Of course, I want her to be safe, and while I do know how to keep safe while ingesting drugs, I am at a loss as to what to expect here as this is not a very common condition. She has had spells under the influence of marijuana, and while they are not dangerous, they can last a good couple of minutes, they are pretty annoying, and they cause her a great deal of stress. I am scared that because of the properties of MDMA, namely enhanced tactile sensations, she gets overstimulated for the whole duration of the roll and basically convulses for a couple of hours straight, or worse, breaks into a real seizure.

Anybody here has experience with MDMA use by people with psychogenic seizures? I have my doubts that it is not really safe and I have dissuaded her from it for now, but she can be headstrong and her roommates have access to a much inferior product than I do (heavily cut with speed). She really wants to try it and hates feeling constrained by her condition, so I'd rather she tries it with me while I am there and sober rather than with her roommates, whom I know to be pretty irresponsible, airheaded teenage girls oblige. I would be thankful if anybody can offer some input as to our situation, but if nobody can, I will of course err on the side of caution.

Thank you very much.

I don't know about that medical condition but if it were my GF I would tell her to not take MDMA, at least for now. There's always a later time and maybe the cause/solution is yet to be found.

MDAI sounds a better option (due to its non stimulant effect) but still, I'd be really careful giving this to someone I love (with that condition).

Yeah, maybe not what you wanted to hear but I would definetly abstain, at least for the time being. Especially considering she has had "spells" under the influence of MJ, which is a pretty benign drug compared to MDMA, IMO.
