I wanna hear your guys opinion on MCing in dnb
Personally, if its done right (which imo means someone from London, the accent just sounds good when theyre chattin lyrics) it makes most varieties of dnb so much more awesome to skank out to.
I got this on right now, in terms of MCing

eksman is me favorite MC

I used to hate MCs but I've learned to appreciate them when done right. The problem with dnb MCs is that a lot of them tend to be hype men and that ruins the music.

if it's an excellent mc who knows when to shut his mouth and doesn't have the volume cranked up louder than the music, then i don't find mcing too detrimental. sadly this has almost never been the case at the parties i've been to. most of the time they blabber nonsense, nonstop. and they ruin good drops by shouting "yo! ey! yo! massive! how do you feel right now?" over the music at unacceptable volumes.

The problem can be twofold. One, as stated above is if the MC has a MASSEEVE ego and likes to hear him/herself rather than trying to compliment the music.
The second is if the MC has a ducker that basically turns the music down when spittin' da grime.
The catch phrases don't do much for me either... "oh my gosh", "oh my god"
It's hard to ad-lib on the fly, a few chosen ones are amazing though.
LTJ bukem, MC conrad and DRS from progression sessions:

Notice how the MC tries to miss the downbeat, very thoughtful :)

I like a few but that's about it. I like Mad P from Top Buzz a lot.

I realllly dislike the hype men but some guys are just so good. MC'ing that consists of "LEMME GET A REWIND FOR THA LIGHTA POSSE ONE TIME INSIDE DA RHYME DJ YOU GOTTA COME LOUDA DEN DIS" grinds my gears like crazy. I must say I really like MC Conrad and Deeizm. It's a shame that LTJ underpaid and mistreated Conrad so badly that he left him. That was some unmatched chemistry. In terms of a studio track, I gotta give it up to Conrad for his performance on "F-Jam" by Adam F.

Deeizm is great in that shes FEMALE and actually SINGS as well. Rare one that.

I must admit that I feel that the "liquid" genre of DnB lends itself to MC'ing the best IMO.

:D

To each their own

I just find that my favorite MC's are ones that happen to be on liquid DnB sets.

IMO YMMV BBQ

ragga jungle works best with english accents. They have to be rhyming and not just shouting out commands. My favorite MCing I've listened live was to neurofunk but we have excellent MCs in San Diego so that's probably why.

see thats what i was getting at star
i only really liek hearing MCs with a london/south london accent.
but i dont like MCing over liquid
i odnt really fucks with liquid to begin with that much
but especially with some cunt chattin lyrics over it, like chill means not chattin lyrics to me, seen?

The ass-wipes that be won't let me upload this track.
shy-fx & t-power: everyday (chase and status remix)

Ta very much to DrGreenthumb; it's a smokin' set.
