Im on 50mg metropolol twice a day for svt. I've done 3 to 4 g of penis envy with no problems.
Was wondering if going higher to 5 or 6g would be more of a Risk of having a svt episode while tripping.
Has anyone done a heroic dose while on this medication.

If no interaction last time, most likely is no interaction the second time. Did you check your BP last time or notice any symptoms related to BP?
I haven't taken blood pressure during trips until i had minor svt episode 2 weeks ago with a 4g trip. I took my BP before the effects started getting strong and it was 170 over 110 with a hr of 110 and climbing.
I did call paramedics just to be safe. Not a fun experience. But it was funny to talk about later. By time they got here I was nearing the peak of my trip. They did a 12 lead and it came up good. We spent some time talking about my pugg while everything was melting and changing colors. After they left I had a nice colorful trip with no more issues.
Needless to say I haven't taken anything since. I was going to do a small dose tonight but without a tripsitter I'm to scared to relive that experience.

Mushrooms and other psychedelics do moderately stimulate the cardiovascular system and may put additional stress on the heart through direct action on serotonin receptors in the heart and coronary arteries. The peak rise in blood pressure and heart rate tend to be during the heaviest part of the come-up, and things tend to settle down (but remain a bit elevated) as one enters the peak. Another period of potential stress occurs as the effects begin to drop off and blood flow patterns change again.

I'm glad you are ok! I've seen many anecdotal reports of high systolic numbers like you have, but often these are pretty transient and not inconsistent with what occurs during certain kinds of exercise. To me your diastolic number is more concerning, and diastolic rises tend to be much less pronounced on psychedelics. The heart rate seems a bit high but is really not unusual for a trip. If you had anxiety over your condition, that could certainly contribute to heart rate elevation also.

The most important thing with these high numbers is that they are transient and short-lived. In a typical trip, the cardiovascular figures tend to peak for only a short time---maybe only 5-10 minutes. A heart rate of 100-120 bpm is not unusual during a strong come-up. However, the heart should come down to around 90 bpm or less as you settle into the trip, depending on your activities of course. Systolic blood pressure can spike pretty hard too, but it shouldn't take long to come down to something in the 140s or less.

In the known history of mushrooms use, serious complications related to the cardiovascular stress occur only very rarely, but until recently most users skewed young and healthy. In Colorado and presumably Oregon where psychedelic therapy is now regulated by the state, patients are required to be screened before being allowed to take psychedelic drugs, and the screening excludes people with cardiovascular disease unless they have specific permission from a physician. I don't know the precise details of this, and it's something that may have been revised since I looked. FWIW, I have heard rumors of a psilocybin-related death caused by cardiovascular failure in a subject (IIRC in his 70s) who had a history of cardiovascular disease.

I'm not a doctor or even a heart expert, but I can suggest a rule of thumb: A person should not use psychedelics if they cannot tolerate both a few minutes of high intensity exercise (i.e. zone 4 cardio); and a few hours of medium intensity exercise (i.e. zone 2 cardio). Psychedelics don't tend to push the heart rate up to zone 4 levels, but they do make the heart work a lot harder through direct action and systolic blood pressure rise. I should also note that heavy doses of any psychedelics may increase the strain on the heart relative to lower doses if there is substantial muscle breakdown taking place.

Sorry that I really don't know much about SVT, so I'm not going to try to give any advice specific to your case. Best wishes whatever you choose to do going forward.

if you take blood pressure medicine, it makes no sense to use any recreational drugs excessively.
you are lucky that you can use them at all, take care of yourself.

the medical community provides no guarantees for their services, they merely recommend treatments or apply them as triage when your body is failing one way or another.
in your case it is a cardiovascular condition that wants to bite your ass,
you can do a lot without going heroic in your dosage of recreational drugs.

Was this from personal communication or can one read more about this somewhere?

i'm taking metropolol and Losartan due to high BP and palpitations.

please be super careful!

i titrate anything i take up very gradually, and research things obsessively so i'm super knowledgeable about what's going into my body. I keep a log of every trip I do, and never go near heroic doses of anything, i keep it low to rec doses, and mainly stick to things that don't negatively effect my conditions as well.

I have had warning signs when i've gone too far including brief chest pain even when being this cautious with low doses.

it's just not worth the risk, stay safe!

I was working my way up to a 7 gram dose but I started having negative effects after the 3rd 4 gram dose. I tapered down to 2 gram doses and that was fine for awhile.
During my first couple 4g doses I was able to release years of built up emotional stress and I cried like a baby for hours. I haven't been able to feel that kind of release for years. I had started to feel numb to any kind of emotion and mushrooms have helped bring decades of bottled up emotions to the surface.
2 grams doesn't really get me to that point where I feel like I'm making progress in my healing journey. Thats why I jumped back up to 4 and that's when my heart decided it didn't want to play any more.

Mushrooms are the only thing I take. I have been researching them extensively and have heard that they can repair brain tissue on the molecular level.

Im a recovering iv meth addict.
During my active addiction I didn't care how much I put in the spoon. I was very careless with it and now I guess I'm paying the price of my actions.
I have been clean from that drug for nearly 10 years but it has left me unable to feel emotions. I just want to feel human again.

The death was reported by Psymposia, but I don't recall which program it was. Sorry. In any case, they didn't provide any follow up reference, so it's difficult to confirm or get further details.

I've also read of other possible psilocybin mushroom deaths in some very old Erowid notes. One was an accidental overdose in a young child leading to hyperthermia.

I had a similar experience recently using ketamine for the 1st time (s-isomer specifically and a very decent k hole) , it was very therapeutic, I'm completely changes after it, in a much better place. Ketamine though does produce increased blood pressure and elevated heart rate, as with all drugs I take I slowly titrate up and monitor & record effects like heart rate, personally I find it's short duration of action an additional mitigation to any negative effect, however I've been very lucky and had no issues with it at all. Do your own research on it though if you ever consider trying it.

I ordered some mushrooms recently and plan on doing something similar to you as well, so very interested to hear how you're getting on with it and your healing journey.

I feel for you, hope you can find some peace, please please please do it safely though, the world is a better place with you in it, no point taking risks! There's amazing people on this forum who are here to help you and talk things through, you're not alone.
