a few questions about this herbal tea infusion from the plant from which the so demonized chemical cocaine is deriveted. i am quite familiar with regular cocaine and its effects and wonder about the effects of the tea. i am guesing it will be quite different but would like some personal experiences.
"... the effects indicated mild stimulation, mood elevation and increased pulse rate, but the intoxication was harmless and non-addictive ... the difference between cocaine and coca ... cocaine requires processing and contains nearly 99% of cocaine (the name of the active alkaloid). Coca is non-processed and contains 0.4% of this alkaloid."

Its going to be just like a low dose of oral cocaine.
Why? Because that is what it fucking is. Eating it from the plant doesn't make it 'non-chemical' or make it affect you any differntly.
Sorry I am very bitter about all the damn hippies. Especially the ones who are all good about doing opium but think heroin is illegal.
Go read some Freud for some very nice detailed reports on the effect of oral cocaine.
You could probably even find out with a web search how much cocaine is in each leaf to give you an idea of the dosage.

Hi there. I hope I can shed some light on your question. My mom has just returned from a trip to Chile and Bolivia , and has brought me "Te De Coca" or your mate de coca.
Now, I have tried this infusion several times. And to be quite honest with you, the "stimulant" effects are hardly noticeable. It isn't like cocaine at all. For me anyway. It's just like drinking a cup of regular black tea. Just a tiny picker upper.
I was also made to drink Te De Coca when I was in Chile 3 years ago on a ski trip. The road up the mountain was all twists and turns, so car sickness was inevitable. Just a few swigs of tea, the nausea disappeared, and I noticed breathing up there became easier.
My mom also made me drink it whenever I had an upset stomach. Worked like a charm. But, you've made me curious as to the other benefits of this tea, so I'm off to do some research. Hope some of the info above helped some.

^ Thats because you are only getting a tiny amount of coke which lasts a long time. Freud's reports about cocaine (and he is using considerably more) taken orally are similar. Just a natural anti-depressant which makes you feel better and more active.
I don't disbelieve him. All good anti-depressants should be abusable. If they aren't abusable then they have a happiness ceiling. Tho I guess my philosophical views on anti-depressants really weren't requested so I will shut up now.

Drug lords have a less formal way to extract cocaine: they use kerosene as a solvent; the drug leaches out like tea from a tea bag. Cocaine is then recovered by evaporation. Now THAT IS HOW COCAINE, the illegal drug is made.
Emkee is talking about TEA, COCA LEAF TEA. You cannot get cocaine from the leaf alone, unless you use the method described above. The leaf alone is as harmless. I don't why you continue to drag Freud into this topic, as he has absolutely nothing to do with the question at hand.

thank you very much Fransesca Fury thats some very usefull info your providing (greta souvenir your mom brought you ;) ). i am looking for some light stimulant to replace my green tea on occassions and because i just have to try "almost" everything (most important).
i wouldlike to add some to what Quale wrote i am not looking for an actual cocaine high like freud, who was a bit of a freak using pure cocaine not the leaf. i find coke boring, but i know thats not what i have to expect. i did want to know if it would have any effect at all besides the health like effects.
and last cocaine is not an anti-depressant although very temporarely about 20 minutes it seems so, it is actually one hell of an depressant, meaning it will make you depressed as hell.
but thanks with the help when i think its worthwhile i will maybe write a trip rapport about natural uppers (Khat, Cola-nut, Mate de Coca)

but why would you want to do that extraction and by so losing all vitamin A, B-complex, C and E some riboflavin, calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium and proteins and all the other health benefits of the coca leaf. allright let me take a guess because it gives you a shitty swollen ego high and has a nasty comedown. we are spoiled people!
no i think i am all done with cocaine a long time ago. but i ll like to tryout "Mate de Coca" or even better the alcoholic coca drink "Vin de Mariani" when it eventually becomes legal again.
You could probably even find out with a web search how much cocaine is in each leaf to give you an idea of the dosage.
"the alkaloid content of South American coca leaves is about 0.5 to 1.5 per cent with cocaine representing 75 per cent of the total alkaloid content of Bolivian coca leaves. The total alkaloid content of Java coca leaves bas been reported as somewhat higher (1.0 to 2.5 per cent), but with cocaine representing only 50 per cent of the total alkaloids"

thanks but yerba de mate is not what i am looking for this is a entirelly different plant Ilex Paraguarensis or Mate, its more comparable to tea (Camelia Sinensis) in effects due to the (higher) caffein contant. (and legally sold around here in the super)
Erythroxylon Coca is where Mate de Coca is prepared from, its an entirely different alkaloid. as i still wonder about revealing sources is allowed do a search for Mate de Coca on google and you ll see what i mean.

Hmm...I guess I wasn't thinking too much about that. It probably depends on what form the cocaine is in the plant. If it was cocaine-HCL making a tea would leach out the cocaine and a bunch of other stuff.
This was probably a really dumb assumption. On the other hand it is evolved as a natural insecticide so it needs to be orally active against the insects. Ohh but their stomach acids (assuming they have them) would dissolve freebase anyway.
If it doesn't contain cocaine why not just make tea? I mean the coca plant isn't chewed by natives b/c of its exceptionally good taste.

Snorting cocaine has always provided me with hardly noticeable stimulant effects.

Erythroxylon Coca or Mate de Coca does contain cocaine (be it a low dosage like i mentioned a few pieces back). Ilex Paraguarensis or Mate doesn t, but this is an entirely different plant it does however contain an high ammount of caffein.
