The Evidence for Antidepressants Causing Mass Shootings
Prior to the Covid vaccinations, psychiatric medications were the mass prescribed medication that had the worst risk to benefit ratio on the market. In addition to rarely providing benefit to patients, there are a wide range of severe complications that commonly result from psychiatric...

But I just think there is a correlation, and perhaps causation. Those classes of drugs (SSRI/SNRI) have such profound impacts upon people, often times in a very negative way.
It's fairly startling to learn that SSRIs are well known to cause anger and rage, and more importantly the
physical expression of that rage. Particularly in the first month of taking them and during withdrawal once people stop taking them.
This should be addressed, but I would be very hesitant to say these drugs CAUSED mass shootings, but may have had some sort of role.
If there were other mitigating factors such as various layers of prevention, which we currently desperately lack, who is to say that they would have happened?
However, I think it would be a huge mistake to just say these drugs caused this to happen or were the main factor.
If I got drunk and cheated on my wife, is it the alcohol's fault? Am I not still an asshole?
If I smoked meth and stole a car, is it the meth's fault? Did I not have some level of criminal mind before the meth?
I think blaming behavior on drugs is a slippery slope.
Also want to point out that, as far as I can see, there is zero correlation with antipsychotics and anger. There seems to be a decrease in anger, paranoia, etc with these drugs across the board. (as one would expect with those drugs)
So let me get this straight. All the folks are saying it's a "mental health" issue but at the same time. all the doctors who treat mental health and their medications are evil. Are y'all sure you're barking up the right tree?
I agree we need to navigate carefully here.
There is a growing anti-psychiatry movement that just bluntly calls it all evil, trash, stupid, a scam.
While I can appreciate some level of that sentiment, I've had some very poor psychiatric experiences myself, I think it's dumb to lump it all into one category and hate it all.
