Mass Shooting and Gun Control Megathread

hundreds of 'dissidents' were arrested, tried and jailed in the jan 6th aftermath. the fact that the populace has guns stopped nothing there.

would you describe the government's actions up to, on and after january 6th as tyranny?

if the plan is to peacefully organize why do you need guns?

alasdair

Well considering how many guns are in the US, that we know of atleast, vs how many legal gun owners and overall gun deaths I would think of law abiding gun owners were majority the annual deaths would be much higher, plus I’m sure most are gang related and almost all of them are illegally owned guns
As a country, US gun deaths aren’t that significant when compared to places in Central America etc. Also violent crime is significantly less now than it was in 70s through 90s. Narratives matter, oligarchs have to disarms us. We are the last hold out

Lmao

But some Washington residents told VICE News that they’re worried the ban creates a situation where “traditional” gun owners—white, male conservatives—are sitting on an arsenal of high-powered weapons, which emerging demographics of gun owners, like LGBTQ people, leftists and minorities, no longer have access to.

Both committed by leftists btw...
The enactment of the ban comes on the heels of two mass shootings: one at a school in Nashville that left three children and three adults dead, and another at a bank in Louisville that left five adults dead

Seriously, NO ONE in this thread is saying guns should be banned or taken away from anyone. I don't understand why this keeps going in circles, all anyone is saying (except maybe someone here or there, maybe) is that we should be looking at who is buying them and doing some due diligence in making sure that, for example, the crazed guy posting plans about shooting up a school on social media, can't walk into a gun store and buy a gun the same day and execute the plan he was telling the world he was about to do.

Obviously the underlying problem isn't guns, but it's still possible to reduce at least some of the incidence of these things. Save some peoples' lives, and without taking anything away from anyone.

Wonder how many less mass shootings (not gang shootings) there would be if people on SSRI's or antipsychotics couldn't legally buy guns

I guess they'd just buy 80% kits off the internet tho if they really wanted to go through with it. But even then it would still probably stop some people

That sounds like more gun control to me. Isn't that a bad thing?

Vice is the worst for far left bs especially making up facts and pushing them as truth.
Vice is neo liberal propaganda. These outlets are rather redundant, which is why places like buzzfeed have gone out of business recently. Obunga and his cohorts infused a ton of cash into state media and private propaganda outlets, after realizing drunpf won. That money ran out a bit ago, so now all these smear merchants are chasing the same buck. Journos are lower than lawyers and nurses at this point.

What was the name of that rule he got rid of where media wasn't allowed to lie to us but now they are? I can't remember. It was around for like 80-90 years I think until he got rid of it, now we have propaganda from every news outlet

Edit: Maybe this is what I was thinking but I'm still not sure

The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that fairly reflected differing viewpoints.[1] In 1987, the FCC abolished the fairness doctrine,[2] prompting some to urge its reintroduction through either Commission policy or congressional legislation.[3] However, later the FCC removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011.[4]

Barry just wanted to bring it back. He really hated rush limbaughs critiques iirc. I don’t think it’s a great rule to have, these places have a million ways to lie a deceive, and it would likely just be used to censor dissenting view points.

indeed.

when people can't argue an issue on its merits, the easy, emotional alternative is to tilt at windmills to try to get ones tribe frothing over, well, nothing

e.g. they want to take your guns, open borders, etc.

I don t want to be involved in a CEPS conversation since i'm a lounge guy, i would be banned, but for real, from overseas here USA looks like a slaughter-house, and nobody can really claim that it has nothing to do with gun control but with self-control, i mean wtf... Here the media go crazy when a dealer get shot in Marseille, there was another one this morning on the news.. Well, ok it s Marseille so no wonder the media grip that, it's maybe the 20th dead in this city since 1st january because of prohibition drug trafficking, it s a lot and at the same time it s nearly nothing compare to USA's situation... But if guns where as available as in the USA, France would look like 1789's revolution guillotineless now with all that tensions about social and ecologic struggle, but in a way more fierced way of doing it.

I'm with @Xorkoth on this, it seems like the alt right is pretty cosy on a social and health support forum... Is that a joke ?

Do i have to remember you that the first 2 measures Trump took was to tear down the Obamacare and screwed up a very thin chance of being all right with nature with too moderated measures of the COP21... The sooo anti-system politician, so-called anyway, perso i think he s just an asshole clown of capitalism mosquito trying to ride the fascist wave he contributed to transform as a tsunami... and like Fela said, water don t get no enemy..

Aw fuck i thought it was about gun control globally, not about mass shooting specifically, sry. Well i don t have much exemples to compare, but the last one in France was a man who dropped 3 kurds, but it's okay, for him at least, he just took the psychward exit instead of jail, cause he's white, probably christian, far-right wing adherent, and it was a racist hate crime as he claimed (not his first, he went against some refugees with a saber before and got away with it). If it was an arab man or a black man he would have taken life without parole... All is good in the better world..

The other ones i can remember was Charlie and 13/11 attacks, which were off course an alt-right islamic acts to put Trump in position, there's interesting holes in the story, like 9/11, i don t say it s a galactic plot, just kinda massive one.

I remember reading about this but I forget the name of it.

Seems the majority of those wanting to ban them have no actual real life experience with them and safely using them. Fumble one around while being shot at my a## ya right lmao. I think instinct kicks in after let's see ...at least 26 years if I subtract the 6yrs old starting time from 32 years old sounds right.
:hai:

We've had this convo before but I don't think you were around back then.

I got my first .22 revolver when I was like 6 years old. Sure, my dad kept it in a safe during my childhood and adolescence but we would go shoot it all the time. Got a .243 deer rifle when I was in middle school. Same deal. Safed up but used it for target practice and hunting. Got a mini-14 in high school, you know the drill. Although by the time I was in high school, I was allowed to keep a loaded 12 ga Mossberg pump under my bed to protect against intruders since my bedroom window was right next to the front door. Was rated an NRA sanctioned sharpshooter in Boy Scouts when I was like 14 years old. I've successfully hunted all kinds of deer and varmints. I probably have more experience with firearms than many of the most vocal "but muh guns!" nutjobs on this forum.

You know what? I also have a brain between my ears and know the stats show that mass shootings in the US increased exponentially after the 1994 assault weapon ban expired. My entire life I've watched my batshit dad literally fantasize about getting the chance to be the hero at the gas station that @MuertaMan talked about. He was LEO before I was born and didn't get the chance to shoot anyone then so instead spent his whole adult life with a major hard on prepping for his day of glory when he could take down the proverbial other guy. We haven't spoken a word to each other in like 3 years but I'm sure he hasn't changed a bit.

Yes, I think an assault weapon ban of new sales should be brought back. I believe the age to purchase a firearm should be raised to at least 21. I believe universal background checks should be required for private sales. I believe a mandatory waiting period should be required for all sales. I do not believe open carry should be allowed for any swinging dick with no training to be able to walk around like fucking Jesse James, scaring the shit out of regular folks who just want to get their fast food burrito and move on. I think more red flag laws are a great idea. These are called common sense gun laws and not a single one involves kicking down anyone's door and confiscating anything from law abiding gun owners.

NOTHING in the Bill of Rights or Constitution is God-given. Hell, God is not mentioned one single time outside of the context of "Year of our Lord" when talking about certain dates. The Founding Fathers were deists who believed Christianity, and any other state sponsored religion, was a terrible idea. Still, even the Founding Fathers were not without fault. After all, many of them owned other humans and neither did they feel women should have the right to vote, among other archaic ideas. Therefore the whole Constitution originality argument goes out the window. They don't call them "amendments" for nothing. It's high time for a major upgrade IMHO.

Dude, you're using words that you don't know the definition of. You think because the term "liberal" is included that it somehow means left wing? lmao.

Neoliberalism is the embrace of free market capitalism and the reduction of social services, among other economic principles.
I know exactly what it means. I consider myself a liberal hot rod. Neo liberal is defined by the rainbow coloured anti homeless cements spikes under bridges in blue down towns across the country.

Assault rifles are already illegal, unless you pay a shit load of money for a fancy license…but again I find it funny how people want semi auto rifles banned but not a peep about semi auto shotguns…that mass shooting that happened in Kerch the kid had a shotgun and killed like 20is people….I dunno, to me it’s so stupid it’s kinda funny how uninformed people are but talk like they know something
