This is based on a comic book I write and one of the characters is very poetic so I thought it may make a good poem. Hmm.
I wrote this poem the morning of the the day I found out George died and that is interesting looking back and reading it now because it is a very sad poem, to me any way. Whatever here we go:
Martyrdom
It illustrates the natural
Evils of living organisms
The need to control them, and the
Transgression from the
Primordial survivalist animal
Education permits one
Only to learn
About sheep-herding and shearing
But times are changing
People are stupid
But they are no longer cruel
Nero is dead and his
Minions are festering
Where they belong
Homocide is not difficult
For every man killed
In war there was a boy
To shoot him down
Murder is not murder
When you're blue against the grey
Murder is not murder
When you wring a chicken's neck
We are all animals down inside
Inherantly we must preserve ourselves
And killing is just
Another way to do it
Utopia is evident in
Spheres of imagination
Did they tell the
Soldiers of the Civil War
To fight for their country?
War is not an excuse for killing
It is just a legal
Breach of the rules
All's fair in love and war
Dimples grace the
Arroyo of your uvula
Cease your chuckling
Or let me be a martyr
And neither one is fair, neither one is fair
Canyons have formed
On my brow from the blood
Spilled forth of
Dying swines
Sunshine is concealed
In the forest
But terrible night occurs
When hypocricy coincides
With retribution
The pendulum swivels
And shatters
Like bottles of preserved tears upon
The fragile antique globe
Reunion with the animal
In us is not a savagery
But a return to the womb
After having
Fallen from grace
What holds you back?
The laughter of children
When united with your Devil
My Beëlzebub
Shivers in Heaven
There are only
So many times you can
Infuriate a bull with a
Bloody kerchief
No regression occurs
When the night bakes crickets
Onto lily pads
Deëvolution is impossible
Except when denying the truth
Secession is impossible
Except when moving backwards
There is a reason chickens
Don't fight back
There is a reason
Bulls do
Sell your ideas of democracy
To the patrons of slavery
And sell your slander
To the bulls and chickens
Of e pluribus unum
I don't pretend to know
The way I was borm
And I don't pretend
To be brave enough to
Fight and kill, but I
Don't pretend that I am
Who I'm not
And that I ca'n't be
Who I am
Food and Mothers are good
And tombstones and fire are not
I have a scar
From where fire burned me
Televisions need antennæ
And humans need scars
Were only candles with wicks
On both ends nesting grounds
For fireflies
I might see the irony
In meetings of
Mercury and Pluto
All's fair in love and war
Join the Armed Forces
And let the mules
Carry your idioms
But don't go
I want to plant flowers
And paint crosses on curches
And neither one is fair, neither one is fair
