Hi, i've recently purchased a new Marquis E-Z test and the colour of the liquid is brown. I seem to remember from my last bottle the liquid colour was clear.

I ask because I tested a pill at the weekend and the result looked as though it could have been Black or Dark Brown. I took the pill but because of the weird result I was wary and did'nt really feel anything.

I'm a firm believer that the mdma effect can really be effected by how a person feels. I believe this because I went to this rave once in 1992 and necked a new yorker when we arrived in the car park. We did'nt get in until 2-3 hours later and because I was worrying that we wernt going to get in I didnt come up on the pill. But as soon as we got in BAM instant gurning.=D

So to sum up have I got a duff batch of Marquis.=D

1L of fresh marquis is clear. Smaller amounts that have any colour usually indicate the reagent:

* has not been stored correctly (higher than the recommended 4*C)

and/or

* is old

As can be seen, it is best to either make your own, or buy a locally made product (made to order or stamped with manufacturers date).

There are different formulations for Marquis in the literature. All use formalin and H2SO4 but in different ratios. This is a concern when it comes to standardizing reagents results with products from different manufacturers. 1 part formalin to 9-10 parts conc sulphuric acid is common, although some suggest as little as 1 part formalin to 100 of H2SO4
