MAPS video on how to handle a difficult trip

As much as I would hate to be restrained during a psychedelic trip, i have to agree that once communication is impossible and there's a risk of the person harming themselves or someone else restraint or anti-psychotics/sedatives are necessary. It is bett

Verbally rationing with a person in a psychotic episode is impossible as words are utterly meaningless. This video gives good advice however for trips that have not yet reached that point.

^ Yes by restraint I mean keeping it as comfortable as possible. Though there was no real transition in my case, it went from ok to trying to talk to him suddenly he got up and ran out the door screaming. I had to tackle him and drag him to the house still screaming. Once i got him inside i tried to do the rational thing but had to physically hold him down for the better part of 2 hours. Then came the mental hospital work of talking to him like a child.

Man was that a fun 6 hit trip lol.

This doesn't help during a trip turned psychosis.
True. There is a certain point at which people seem to switch off from this reality and enter their own. They won't acknowledge certain things others would and you just need to know when the right point to get help is. Like someone else said if their seriously threatening your or their own safety, then help should be acquired immediately. However if words still have a shred of meaning to the person losing it then that should be your first option. Waking up in hospital after a psychedelic freak out isn't much fun from what i've heard.

Man I'd be really pissed off if I was that dude tripping balls, he's making me uncomfortable right now when i'm sober.

I figure most people with any experience should be able to handle themselves, and already know these things.. :s

At first I was like, Oh my god, this is freaking retartedly wrong, when it was talking about stuff before it had the little roleplay thing....

But all in all she had some valid points, and again, those are great for preventing someone from going haywire, but once someone has lost it, if you have not put positive thoughts into their mind before the loop completes its circuit, they will just be in their own little zone...

Nothing you can do but keep a distant eye on them after removing any extremely dangerous items from their reach
