Recently someone i know got some mandrax pills. the are white and have MX on them. Does anyone know dosage or how much might be in these pills.

If they from last years batch, which is very possible, do a search on pillreports for 'mx'
Is any of the letters in italics? The mx's of last year were VERY good, clean MDMA. wish i still had some.
Also, you're gonna need more descriptive info for people to help you properly
:)

the pills are perscribed medicine, from many years ago. the bottle does not say mg's it only say MANDRAX in black the pills are domed

when i was still a youngin and living in RSA i heard of this mandrax stuff.. tho i wouldnt have a clue about it..

im not sure, but i think u can crush it and smoke it with weed... but dont quote me on that..

they are very old, i know people that have smoked it and been eble to get high. i want to know dosage and effects

If they're bona fide, then it should be methaqualone. But, as the above link shows, copycat pills have been produced in clandestine laboratories. The dosage and contents therefore could be unknown, even if the pill matches the original pharmaceuticals (I think they have MX one side, R/L in italic script either side of the score on the other side).

Has anyone come across Methaqualone (Quaalude) in Australia at all? I have heard it's big in South Africa and sometimes used in parts of the US.

AFAIK marketing of 'ludes stopped about twenty years ago in the States (1984) and the substance was subsequently transferred to Schedule 1. A couple of years ago when I was interested in the area, it seemed that most of the 'quaaludes' that were available on the street (which may or may not resemble the original 'Lemmon 714' pharmaceuticals) were actually bunks or copycat pills containing benzodiazepines similar to Valium.

I haven't come across many people who were into illicit methaqualone over the years, nor anyone really selling it.

Interesting tidbit:
The trademark Quaalude for the sedative and hypnotic agent methaqualone is an example of how a product name is carefully chosen for a positive public response. Methaqualone was developed in the 1960s by William H. Rorer, Inc. At that time, the company's best-known product was Maalox, a digestive aid that derived its name from its ingredients, magnesium and aluminum hydroxides. To enhance the product recognition of their new sedative drug, the company incorporated the aa of Maalox into the name Quaalude. The other elements of the name are presumed to be a contraction of the phrase quiet interlude, a soothing, even poetic description of the drug's effect.

This thread brought back a memory or two.

My first encounter with drugs was with Mandrax - at school. I didn't actually take them, but, as they were being given out I secured a free hand full (don't know why, I never really intended on taking them) :\

That was the day several of my mates - some normally very straight students, and a couple of meatheads- all experienced a large slice of temporary insanity

It was high school 1974, and the person who was most expected to, was the one who turned up with them; a record sleave (cover) zip bap about half full. The guy- a mate - was handing them out for free, saying about 3 were the go.

Despite some emergency ringing out across the PA while we were in class, I didn't think about the pill-heads until our teacher was called away and a chick poked her head in the door to say some people on drugs had gone nuts. I freaked and ducked out to get rid of what I'd been given.

We heard the stories at little lunch; couple of guys had been taken away and another big dude (1st 15 rugby player) smashed up the art room and assaulted the lady teacher. At lunch, lots of people were obviously very out of it.

After lunch most of the junior school were at the swimming baths for that ol' compulsory activity designed to find the fastest swimmer. Of course, the same guy won as he did every year, so it was pretty boring. By this stage my mate with the pills was pretty rubber legged and free of all concern. But the day was catching up on him fast. A bunch of teachers entered the baths area and scanned the grounds before pointing in our direction. The Deputy Head pulled him up from under a tree and made him empty his pockets. He proceeded to extract the largest bag from a small trouser pocket - in front of all the kids!! The WOO's almost came simultaneously.

Ol' rubber legs couldn't stand up without falling and was escorted off the school grounds forever....

He was actually a really smart - misunderstood maybe - but smart kid. I believe he could have gone places. But he seemed to decide there was no place for him in his world of the time and turned to dealing. I guess he saw his future as being rather limited after getting kicked out of school. So he sold stolen prescription drugs until moving onto smack around the time we graduated. He eventually died alone from a heroin overdose.

Mandrax huh? For me, the first memories are of a day of chaos at school, and the beginning of the end for a friend. I was probably one of only a few friends the guy had- he never made many real friends - people gave him shit because he was into anything and everything unusual. But I learned more factual stuff about drugs and the broader side of life from him than from anyone else at that time. RIP Phillip

To be fair, I did know a girl who when she first tried E in 1989 said the feeling reminded her of how happy she felt while on Quaaludes. And a few guys I know used to snow cone mandrax and don't seem to have had any lasting problems. But all other stories I have are bad. If there's a large quantity of these old pills, please be careful with what you do with them.

I had a mandrax pill in capetown / south africa in 94. They were the most popular pills at the time! an ex-pat kiwi that I was staying with crushed a couple pills then added it to a bong of weed. From my experience after taking a couple hits of the bong my mouth started to froth and then felt like I wanted to spew up? after that I was in the most lucid paranormal state I had ever felt before it was like I was the shadow of myself like I was looking down at myself (hope im making sense) and it was in patterns or moments of time like being stuck in morbius (you know where time becomes a loop - heh ->orbital) the closest ive come to that feeling again was going k-hole as well as dropping 8 x 20mg temazepans (aka footballs) damn had to try everything at least once!?
Funny though when I was over there in 94 you could buy canisters of DXM + other wierd drugs that hadnt even been classified LOL..

^^ hehe yes, makes me wish i was into drugs when i was still living there :/ oh well...

my gran was prescribed these sometime in the early 60's (for depression i believe). she told me how she took the dosage her doctor prescribed her, proceeded to 'have a psychadellic trip, drug thing' and then flush the rest down the toilet.
from the way she described it it twas quite a freaky experience for her:\
