Diluting coke in water and spraying the solution has been described of a way to minimise nasal dammage as opposed as snorting solid blow.

I was wondering if excess acidity, if at all present, could not be got rid of by addmixing a bit of bicarbonate to the solution - short of making crack of course. Would that make a difference? I've read that sometimes coke, regardless of its purity, is sometimes put on the market with excess acidity.

There's no excess acidity. Cocaine HCL is neutral or really damn close. Add any bicarb and you'll have some crack once it hits your nose.

Your coke has enough bicarb in it that it shouldn't be a problem.

The reason coke causes nasal problems is because it's constricts blood vessels in the nose and extended use kills tissue.

I think a lot of the corrosion problems also come from the fact that a very common coke cut (at least in my area) is acetone which is also pretty much neutral but can still be corrosive as well.

It's not corrosive, it's a solvent.

And second, no ones cocaine is cut with acetone. For one, acetone is a liquid, you'd notice it really, really rapidly, and for two, it rapidly evaporates.

It's used in the extraction and purification process, though, and the smell may remain a little.

The damage cocaine does is not due to acidity, but down to the fact that it's a good vasoconstrictor which limits blood flow to the mucous membrane tissue leading ti ischaemia and eventual tissue death (that's how you get a Linda Ronstadt nose!). As such there is no way of making it less 'corrosive' other than not taking it as much/often

Amphetamines etc aren't as bad as you're not shoving them up yer hooter every 30 minutes as is common with cocaine (but really heavy use will eventually cause damage just as surely as coke will). In fact overuse of vasoconstrictor nasal decongestants (that act locally like oxymetazolidine) can cause just the same sort of damage over time

...and third: acetone doesn't dissolve coke-HCl. ;-)
