Making a test kit?

I'm wondering if it's possible to make your own test kit. They don't really sell them down here in South Africa and a lot of the pills are very suspect. I'd like to test them but I can't just go mailorder from dancesafe or anything like that.

Really? Fedex/UPS/DHL on a 5KG package is $500+, unless they're shipping via some other method I don't know of.

good old snail mail takes care of it (priority mail). just takes a bit longer than fedex, but gets there. shipping included...

Heh, the USPS is a joke! Last time something was shipped here, it showed up back in NY where it was mailed from, soaking wet and crushed, 5 and a half months later. (Xmas present, it came back in April).

Here's an interesting factoid: If you use global priority or global express, once it leaves US borders, they can't track it! The number only works domestic. Once it goes overseas it gets handed off to the postal service of whatever country it's going to, which usually will then destroy, lose, or steal it.

What exactly is in the test kit anyway? Is it possible to reproduce legally?

None of the chemicals used in the common reagents are illegal, although some are toxic, and others are highly corrosive and acidic.

This paper will outline some of the common reagent formulations.

9 parts sulfuric acid to 1 part formaldehyde is how you make the Marquis reagent which is what most test kits use.

That's formaldehyde as in formalin, a 40% solution usually also containing a small amount of methanol. Methanol serves to hinder polymerization.

when my EZ Test kit will arrive in USA?

EZ- I got a confirmation email saying my order payment was received on 5/1/10 (almost 3 weeks now)....whats the time frame for delivery to USA (california)? Thanks...
