Making a bong... suggestions please

k, i tried a search on the topic and quitre surprisingly nothing came up, so here goes my question:
i am trying to make a bong (duh), and though i can obviously manage the basics, i would like to make a nice one to last me some time...
the bitch of the situation is making the hole in a glass bottle (i only need to make 1 hole, since this is a shoot-through bong, or shotty, or whatever else you may call it)... the only method i've been told works is by tapping it gently & persistently (might i add: VERY FUCKING PERSISTENTLY) untill you make this goddamn hole..
needless to say i get fed up with this after half a minute (by which i've barely chipped the glass), so my question is this: can i use a drill instead? has anyone done this? what size drill tip do you use & any particular precautions to avoid the bottle shattering and creating a general mess?
also, sealant: what do you use to seal the bong tube so that its air-tight? i've been happily using bluetack, but you need a shit load if its going to last anything more than the evening, so if anything better exists, i'm all ears...

If you're making something out of a glass bottle, get a propane torch - the self igniting kind with the button are good. $12 at any hardware store. Heat up the glass and poke something through it. It;ll work better than chipping away at it.
Alternately, there are stores where you can "purchase" smoking devices - not sure how THAT works, tho.

Fuck the glass. I suggest you use get a Snorkle, an ice pick & a avacado. NICE!!!

i'm aware of that possibility noriega (except with an apple - since the taste of avocados sucks IMO), except i presume that glass will last longer than an avocado, which is why its worth the effort in the first place...

have you actually tried this mate? i'm worried that the glass will crack rather than soften up... otherwise it sounds like a good plan...

yep, they're known as 'tobacconists'... and here in S. Italy, you don't have any other kind unfortunately... so DIY is the way to go...
