I've been injecting in my neck for a number of years now and am finally having some issues that are freaking me out. Aside from really thick scar tissue up and down both sides, the veins have doubled in size and stay that way. The veins are lumpy in spots and I have to hold my breath to get blood to actually register. Half the time, I'll be in the vein but still can't register because the blood won't rush in. Any feedback on what could be going wrong would be great.

Your injection technique probably leaves a lot to be desired.
Always use a clean sharp needle
Use the smallest tip you can manage with
etc

That is terrible. Stop injecting into your neck.

I think that first of all the fact that you having to go into your neck should be a indicator that maybe it's time to stop never mind the fact that you have already scared your neck veins up and down. Injecting into your neck as I'm sure you are aware is an incredibly risky. You probably didn't post to be lectured or told off but in the name of harm reduction please try using another roa or vein.

To answer your question though the only thing I can think of that i have experience with is that if a vein has quite a lot of scar tissue (despite being inside the vein) blood doesn't rush in as the thickness of the vein reduces the blood flow quite significantly as you can imagine.

I absolutely agree with the posts above. I'm using dull works (no exchanges in this area) and really need to read the writing on the wall, given my neck is the only area I haven't completely used up already. I actually made an appointment today to start meth (for the third time) late next week.

I wanted to add, I'm worried about possible blood infection because I've been exhausted, nauseous, hot, irritable, etc... even when I'm "well" so I'm worried this might be related?

This isn't in any way a replacement for using a new needle. But when I can't get a hold of new ones I use a nail file/emery board on the back of the needle to sharpen it. Like i said it is no replacement but it's better than using a really blunt needle. Well done for trying to get yourself help with meth. Good luck. I highly doubt it's related but please go to the doctor if you are worried about a blood infection.
