Magnesium to prevent gurning and that, is it related to the NMDA receptors?

Sorry, I can't really remember the details at the moment. Just that the NMDA receptor is voltage and ligand gated, the influx of ions causes the movement of the magnesium ions out of the way so the ions can do their thing on the ligand.
So maybe more magnesium means more positivity so will inhibit the NMDA receptor from firing?

oh crumbs, I never realised I barely started the question. Terribly sorry, Im suffering a horrific hangover today.

I was also being pedantic. Sorry. :P
IIRC, magnesium magnesium exerts its neurological effects via both direct effects on neural voltage gradients and by interacting with voltage-gated glutamate receptors, but I am really not knowledgeable enough to give a good answer.

Magnesium has also been used effectively for non-drug induced bruxia. There have been at least a couple publications on it, don't recall exactly where i read it, but i'm sure a cursory pubmed search would yield some results
