Magnesium for jaw pain?

I have a type of headache that comes often (daily) and seems to be mostly around my jaw area. No sharp pains, just a dull aching that comes on slowly. Not sure if it's from past drug use or not. I recall that my jaw muscles would sometimes spasm pretty intensely (so much so that someone standing next to me would be able to visibly see my jaw muscles twitching and flexing) when I would take certain things like molly/x (untested), dxm, etc.

Anyways, I saw a neurologist who recommended taking 500mg of magnesium a day. I know that magnesium oxide is pretty much worthless and that I should take kinds like citrate or chelated. Well I have chelated magnesium right now but on the ingredients it says "Magnesium (as magnesium oxide, magnesium amino acid chelate [rice protein based])" Should I be concerned that it's still magnesium oxide or is it fine because it's a chelated version of magnesium oxide? The brand is Country Life and they're 250mg tablets.

Thanks!

hmm, it sounds like the country life magnesium has chellated and oxide, it doesn't state what amounts each are present though..

i don't think it hurts to give it a try and see if it helps. i take it in the morning and at night with food.

some forms of magnesium seem better than other for me though. my favourite is in powder form but its an australian brand.
