Took 500 mg with breakfast,
more with lunch,
more with dinner,

then 1k mg's when I dropped.

The jaw clenching was still quite ridiculous.

It was a good night last night though :]

It really depends on the type you take...most grocery store brands have poor bioavailability.

Magnesium Citrate has the best bioavailability from everything I've read, I take it daily for multiple reasons.

It's supposed to help, but some people say they feel no different. Nonetheless, it is healthy to take (at recommended doses, obviously) so it can't hurt to try. There's many other substances they may help for jaw clenching, check out the Directory.

Eh, i thought magnesium was the key.

But what other uses does it have? It says muscle relaxant, but I haven't really felt much different than a normal roll from that either.

Did you read roganmaster's post? Most magnesium supplements on the market are magnesium oxide, which is practically useless, and a complete waste of money. Magnesium oxide has a bioavailabilty of 4%, you might as well be taking a sugar pill.

Magnesium has a ton of other benefits aside from being a mild muscle relaxant:

-Reduces cortisol (the stress hormone) in your body.
-Aids memory
-Helps sleep (When I take magnesium before bed I get the BEST sleep ever!)
-Aids your body in bringing fat into the mitochondria of cells to be burned for energy.

To top it off, I read that most people are deficient in magnesium, and simply by eating foods that are high in magnesium or supplementing with it, you will feel more energetic and simply feel healthier.

I take 200mg magnesium immediately upon waking up every day, and 450mg magnesium right before bed with zinc and vitamin b6.

500mgs of magnesium citrate certainly has an effect on the muscles. 250mgs of citrate will give you 63% of the RDA so its not completely useless.

magnesium citrate is stronger and then theres chelated magnesium - the problem is the stronger the magnesium the bigger the chance of having an upset stomach.

Best to start with low dose and see how you go.

I have taken magnesium citrate and I found that it still did not help my jaw clenching. It is sort of frustrating sometimes not being able to eat most foods for a few days after I roll, but since I don't really roll too often it is something that I am willing to put up with. Gum usually does not help the clenching, and only makes me think that my cheek is the gum ouch, haha. I usually use an iPod case, because it has enough give in the rubber that it doesnt hurt my jaw as much as other things that I have tried.

Maybe someone will post another solution to jaw clenching, for both our sakes haha

I always clench my jaw. Thank god I don't grind my teeth. I just try to chew gum as much as possible to minimize damage. I chew it alot anyway, since I quit smoking end of June.

Sometimes though if your chewing gum too much it can make your jaws ache the following day - remember to change it often so your not just chomping on some hard piece of gum.

i actually like gurning. not, so much the next day when the inside of my mouth kills from basically eating it, but then its a constant physical reminder of what an ace time i had.... so i can't really understand why you don't like it!

I always keep a fresh piece in. I look at the upside. All that muscle workout means crazy oral sex skills! lol.

WHat about zma I was going to get some tabs of it they contain per 3 pills this

Zinc (as zinc l-methionine): 30 mg (300%*)
Magnesium (as magnesium citrate): 450 mg (120%*)
Vitamin B6 (as pyrodoxine hydrochloride): 11 mg (750% *)
Copper (as copper amino acid chelate): (600 mcg *)

I was looking on trying 6 pills just befor and then maybe another 3 after I have had a few stripes
