Hi

I went to see my Neurologist and he prescribed me,Lyrica 600mg/day.

( I just cant AFFORD THE PRICE , $ 160 ( 54 caps )

I always take, instead of 2 separate doses, all at once after Bfast.

Strange. I read so many testimonies saying even 450mg or less, some with 600mg, they all got the buzz, euphoric, etc.

I take 600mg at once, and felt none. (I also take it with Tramadol 400mg and 4mg Alprazolam).

They make me less anxious. No Buzz/euphoric/general wellbeing etc

My questions are :

1. Anyone has any idea what's going on with my meds?

2. Lyrica , unless written on Authority Script (For Neuropathic Pain), cost $160 for the 300mg caps ( 56caps)...
But with Authority, I can get only $5.80

With my use of Lyrica, as 600mg doesn't give me anything, unless I go higher slowly, would anyone think, I should just stick to Tramal and Alprazolam?
( well now it's a bit hard to get those, as docs are reluctant to prescribe them)
But with Lyrica, Docs can prescribe it like candies.....how many I want.....what strength I want......with 5 repeats.....

The reason i add Lyrica, is to amplify the effect of Tramal and Alprazolam. ( It does, but must be in higher dose.)

But so far, NO Docs wants to write it in Authority Script, even I said, that I got severe pain behind my eyes nerves and throughout my head. It's the nervous condition. But they are reluctant to write it . Except on Private scripts.

Bear it in mind, if this is the case, then should I stick to Benzo and Tramadol only?

Any input appreciated.

1. Some people just have idiosyncratic reactions to medications. Your reaction is an unwanted side effect (not everyone gets side effects or particular ones), and given that the exact mechanism of pregabalin is not concisely known the reason for this side effect probably isn't either. I personally didn't get much out of pregabalin or gabapentin unless it was combined with opioids, in which case it was pretty nice.

2. Are you taking the alprazolam and tramadol daily? If the cost of the medication is too much, I'd probably ask about gabapentin as it should be cheaper.

Why is Lyrica so expensive? I had a few and enjoyed them (600 caps), mostly with alcohol, made me wobbly and happy, but people who really need them for nerve pain and whatever else they are prescribed for shouldn't have to fork out so much.

Well EXACTLY!!! You are right. Those Pregabalin and Gabapentin work better with Opioids.

Yes, I am supposed to take 200mg Tramadol twice/day.
With Alprazolam 2mg, it's on p.r.n basis. ( As needed)

Thanks for the input

I am sorry, you mean, 600 capsules of Lyrica???? ( So you must have around 12 Prescriptions....8o )

( Sorry if i am wrong)

nah i dump 2 at once that = 600mg's.. Nah just kidding, you're right, the ones i've had are 300's. WOOPS!

Dunno where i got 600 from, outta my ass i guess. 300's they are, i checked.

I went to the chemists and asked whether Lyrica could be prescribed on Authority Script to anyone having Neuropathic Pain.
They all said no.
It's only for RPBS. Veteran of War.
So I guess we all got to pay the full price until the patent expires.

I am pretty sure that lyrica and alprazolam (or any benzo) have cross tolerance, which explains why your not feeling it.

^ As far as I'm aware they don't have cross tolerance... I was using gabapentin around the time I started getting a bit of a benzo tolerance and didn't notice anything but I could be wrong.

Hi

I am not sure if you are using it daily, but I do.

900mg of Pregabalin, I supposed you only use it occasionally, whereas , I use 600mg daily.

You use it with 5-10mg Valium, I am using it with 2mg Alprazolam ( 1mg Alprazolam = 10mg Diazepam)

You use it with 120mg Codeine, let's say, you are the lucky one that do not have a shortage of CYP450 2D6 to convert Codeine to 10% Morphine, so, roughly, you get 10-12mg Morphine in your body, whereas, I use Tramadol 400mg. ( Not so different, both act on mu receptor, but Tramadol has a molecule looks like Venlafaxine, an antidepressant, Serotonin-Noradrenaline Re-uptake inhibitor......... In higher dosage of greater than 150mg it inhibits the re-uptake of Dopamine, too, which is a " Pleasure" Neurotransmitter.)
