Lyrica dosage question

Before I ask any questions, my dr is indeed an idiot.. Lol =P
That said.. My dr prescribed Lyrica (for diabetic neuropathy on right side of my tummy) but he only rx'd 50 mg once a day for a month (no refills yet). From what I've read this is below, by quite a bit, the normal startin dose. Anyone start this low or heard of only 50 mg a day? Is it even gonna touch the pain, IYO of course, since you can't say what will/won't work for me..
Also, should I keep takin my 1,200 gabapentin at night? I forgot to ask if that is safe or pointless or what.
I read somewhere, forget now (hey, I'm a blonde, gimme a break heh), that normal dosage is 75 mg twice a day for a week, then 150 mgs x's 2 daily, etc.

 Administer in 3 divided doses per day

i dunno about gaba and lyrica..and taking both...i wouldn't think you would..i think it would be one or the other...
if the idiot dr. knows of your gabapentin dosing at night..maybe this is why you were rx'd such a light dose???

i would think the lyrica should help w/ benzo taper as well....;)

Lyrica can produce a lot of side effects (like most medication) so typically it is started lower and titrated up if necessary. I started at 75mg once a day to then gradually titrated up to 225mg/day (75mg TID) then eventually raised it to 300mg/day. I am 6'0 tall so I presume a lot larger than you so 50mg to start is probably a good dose for a smaller female.

It takes about a week for it to accumulate in your system and start to produce relief so give it a try at that level and request a change if it is necessary.

If you are looking to use it recreationally, obviously you'll need more than 50mg but if you really want pain relief, I can not stress enough how important it is to not abuse your medication. Once you start seeing any medication as a recreational drug, it becomes very difficult to use it appropriately.

Lyrica and gapapentin are very similar so typically the lyrica is used to replace the gabapentin. You should call and inquire if you should take both or not. I had a doctor who had me take both for a while but most use just one or the other. It is THE most effective single medication I have tried for nerve pain so I really think you should give it a shot. I've seen a lot of drug users here claim it does nothing for their pain because they just want opioids so they convince themselves and/or their doctors. If you want pain relief, it's a great drug.

I'll try it then at this dose and see if it helps. I can always ask for more I'm sure.
Cane, I am not plannin on abusin for 2 reasons: too many people havin seizures (erowid reports) and I really, REALLY need relief from the burnin & "pins and needles" (like I'm bein stabbed over & over with small needles :/).

Cane: You indeed have me beat on height lol. I'm a measly 5'5". But lemme say, tall guys are hot! Lol. I've always dated guys 6' or taller. My freakin 9 yr old is 5 foot already! Course my ex is 6'6" lol. She's as tall as my soon to be 15 yr old!
