Hello, all. I'm a 25 year old male living on the East Coast and have been using drugs, mostly opioids and opiates, since 14. LSD, Mushrooms, DXM, oxycodone, heroin, dilaudid, morphibe, opana, meth, cocaine, cannabis, kpins, zans: You name it, I've done it, probably overdone it. Prescribed adderall. I have been a daily user of of opiates since I turned 18, mostly insufflation, but occasional IV. My heroin habit is currently somewhere around a bundle to half gram a day. I have been on both the suboxone and methadone programs. Neither really worked and here I am again. Ive recently been trying to get over a break up with my fiance and gf of over 9 years, with a very large stressor being my drug abuse. Ive recently lost my love, the house i had mortgaged with her, custody of my niece, which i had because of my sisters drug abuse. Its been a tough 3 months and I was reading other people going through similar shit on here and I thought id reach out to support and have the support of others who know what kind of strange pleasure/pain this life we lead is. I look forward to meeting and talking to alot of you.
That's quite the pharmacopeia, my friend.
I, too, have lurked on this site, but, am now officially a "member," I guess...
I haven't been all over the site, but, of course, CFC's suggestion would seem a good one, towards getting some support.
I've been quite the psychonaut, in years past, and have touched all manner of drugs, but I haven't had the particular problem you describe.
However, I know lots who have, some very close to me.
You're probably already familiar with Narcotics Anonymous, by name, anyway.
While some folks object to the over reference that Twelve Step Groups make to something spiritual or supernatural, the groups, themselves, are really pretty dogma-free, which goes so far as most individuals in the groups holding a take-it-or-leave-it attitude to even their own suggested program of recovery. They will seriously welcome you to the next meeting, even if all you do is show up.
There are so many ways that people handle their problems that there's no one right way to do it, but the Twelve Step Groups do have a record of helping an overwhelming number of people as compared to every other modality of treatment, in existence.
Still, as Robert Frost wrote, "Doubtless, there are other ways..."
I commend to you the help you'll find, herein, or, in person, should you venture to such a group - any group.
Lots of times, it's a mix of the various means of help that sees a person through to a new peace and happiness.
I pray this for you, "One"!
Let us know that you're doing alright.
