Lucy and RC storage water vapor!!!

SWIM has at the moment a couple blotters and various RCs stored in a private refrigerator.

Now, a few blotters are in a smallish dime bag, and a few other blotters partially pressed between some kind of plastic which are exposed to the air in a ziplock bag. The RCs are each in their own dime bags from the vendors, these I'm not so worried about.

So the other day swim opened the large ziplock that contains these smaller dime bags, and noticed that some mist or water vapor had condensed on the large and even smaller bags and I was really worried that maybe swims lsd or RCs had come into contact with the water!!!

Is there something swim can do to take precautions against this? Like sandwich the blotters between aluminum foil or paper towel? Several of the blotters are pretty much sitting right up against the inside of the large ziplock with no protection.

How can I protect them?

Thanks!

always wrap the blotters in foil... for light protection at least, but also to protect against condensation.

i like to keep my blooters wrapped in film paper, tightened against them.. and then some kind of baggie on the outside.
This mist thing is a very common mistake. When storing substances in the fridge you should take them out and wait until it warmed up to room temperature. If not, you¡ll always have humidity entering, and getting wet is one of the worst things that could happen to stored substances..

dude take it out of the freezer (i heard some1 somewhere on here saying that aint to good) i store my acid the way most ppl said on here, in foil, wapped over twice, then 2 coats of cling film, then stored in an empty yogart pot in dark un disturbed area of ya room

I always collect the bags of silica gel when I buy electronics etc and chuck them in the box when storing shit. I like to think it helps but have no proof of this.

^I also remember reading that u shouldn't keep stuff in the freezer - due to humidity cycles which can lead to breakdown of substance... fridges too but freezers worse.

Blighted light - please do not use SWIM on this board, it does not help anyone - thats an optical illusion we all know. :)

This topic is also covered numerous times, just to inform you - not to bitch. Check the Psychedelic Index linked to on top the PD page, then find the LSD link in that list/index. In there there is a subthread about storage and other things. :)
You can find frequently covered topics in that way, otherwise there is the search engine. You are always more than welcome to suggest a new topic to become adopted in the index.

On topic:

Foil may not be ideal to protect from water in the air, especially if you don't wrap it tight. But in combination with a dessicant and a baggy I'd say you are fine.
Some say foil can do something to support acid degradation but I don't buy that theory, it doesn't make sense. Assuming it doesn't, what would be best is wrap your acid in foil, then put that in either an airshut baggy or a mini-masonjar: I use these for my chems in general:

Also put a dessicant like silica gel or a calcium chloride / magnesium sulphate or sodium sulphate unit in there (it absorbs water from the air so that there is nothing to condense).

Killerd, it is a good practice to use dessicant packages like that but remember that they get saturated and used up. Some types of dessicant can be regenerated by putting them in a hot oven for maybe an hour. There are silica packages that turn color indicating whether they are still okay. MgSO4 should also do ok in an oven.

Looks like this may have been covered already. But if you don't want moisture getting into your shit when in fridge/freezer, you need to use an AIRTIGHT mason jar or vial, with a rubber/plastic seal under the cap to make it completely airtight.

When you put your stuff in the mason jar, you can add a packet of silica gel too (unless you have liquid L, hehe) to keep it dry.

IMPORTANT: When you take it out of the freezer, wait at least 30 minutes before opening the jar at all, so it can return to room temperature. If you open it while it's still cold, the moisture from the outside of the jar can get inside. So just wait 30 min. before opening after taking it out of the freezer.

You can test if something's airtight by submerging the CLOSED jar/vial in water (like a filled up sink) and holding it at the bottom so it pressurizes a bit under the water. If any bubbles rise, it's not airtight.
