A LITTLE BIRD TOLD ME: I am 1 year clean with 1 minor relapse 2 months in...when i was around 8 to 9 months clean, I was on a camping trip and a friend of a friend had a sheet of CID. (I HADNT DONE ANY PSYCHS FOR 3 YEARS) He said anyone who wanted one could have it for free, but every tab after that would be 5 bucks...so i ended up taking 2 and i hit a level i actually cant put into words but i thought so hard into who i am and what my addiction to heroin was that i never ever want to use again. I have had people offer me free smack, had it right in front of me, and it was like i was looking at a piece of dog shit.. i didnt even want to be around it and left. now my parents found out that i did an A/B ext. on san pedro and flipped the fuck out. its like they are acting like i relapsed on dope. I am 22 but since i still live at home its their rules. I know the AA/NA people say " oh well that is a relapse" but any logical person can see that a psych-trip is no where close to being as bad as opiate use.

does anyone have any strong arguments to why psychedelics in moderate use (3-5x per year) isn't actually harmful for you?

-maybe harm reduction theory or personal stories... i dont want to sound like a hippy psy-goa head spilling reasons why psychedelic drugs are the way of life.. but some way to show them it can make a difference...

Psychedelic drugs a couple times a year used alone or in a group setting is something everyone should do. The experience opens your mind to ways of thinking that you're not normally capable of. It helps people become at peace with themselves and understand the world in a different perspective.

I've never known anyone addicted to lsd, shrooms, or any PD. And when you're using it for self improvement, not recreation or just to get high, it's a beautiful thing.

Personally, psychs have turned my life around on a few occasions. They helped me with PAWS, PTSD, and serious gun to head depression. I owe a lot to psycs, and I want a lot back from opiates.

I think people that compare LSD to herion have never been close to either and really have no idea what it's like. Education is the only thing I see helping you. Explaining to your parents the truth and that self exploration(PD use) and selfishness and loathing(opiate addiction) are two very different things.

It's kind of like that movie Limitless, to cite a recent precedent, it was a bad trip for him, but in the end he grew from the experience and was a better person because of it.

Hope that helped a little.

Have you explained to them that using psychedelics helped you cure your addiction to opiates?

They are completely unrelated drugs with completely different effects and if they would do a little bit of research and try to open their minds about the positive effects that some drugs have, they may see that occasional use of psychedelics is not the end of the world.

I'm guessing they have a "drugs are bad, mmmkay" attitude, much like the majority of the world, and this won't help at all, but that's my inebriated 2 AU cents (0.020026 USD).

You imply that our .02 USD is worth more, as an American (especially on an international scale) , I find that untrue. :-p

Several studies have shown psychedelic therapy to be viewed as a positive experience in the majority of cases. Often profound and sometimes life changing. One positive experience that can improve your life? Astounding.

Opioids are often life changing too. Besides acceptable indications (chronic pain) how many of those do you think were positive? My guess is single digit percentages, if that high.

The harm dealt by the damage from IRRESPONSIBLE USE of psychedelics is likely tiny compared with the positive.

I for one never found psychedelics recreational or desirable for a night out.

I contrast them with opioids as sniffing glue to get high VS. meditation to get high.

Maybe not such extremes, but you get my point.

I've tried but i think my moms quote was "Oh my god, now im going to have an acid head for a son"... I asked her completely straight "If there is an adult, who works hard, pays all the bills, and everything is fine...would it be ok for him to take mushrooms once a year?" and she said ABSOLUTELY NOT..

you're not gonne change thier opinions, atleast probably not

but if you know it helped you then thats what matters

i am just over 8 months clean from heroin myself, since i quit i tripped mushrooms once, truffles once, and DMT 2-3x (was my 1st experiences with D and had to eyeball it so thats why its hard to actually say) and i feel these have definately benefitted me, i dont tell my parents about these experiences but i have told them before that psychedlic journies are possibly the closest thing that i have to a religion, when i told em that my dad said he felt sorry for me for that fact, but this was years ago soo maybe they have changed thier minds, or maybe they thinnk that since i quit dope and even weed (for the most part) that i dont use psychs any more, but on the other hand i have a San Pedro as tall as me still at thier house cuz its to large and heavy to move anymore, and while they dont know for a fact its psychadelic i think they know but dont wanna admit it, even when i was junked up all the time they know but would blame it on 'the pot' they like to not admit things i think soo its hard to tell and im not sure why i am goin off on a tangent but the point is:

if its truly helping you then continue it responsibly, if you think it might not be helping then evaluate that thought
