Bluelight Crew
This is from a while back.
I started off at home drinking wine with the girlfriend and some of her friends. I left them to their girl talk after a few glasses and grabbed a taxi up to the local uni for a psy trance and acid techno night. As a side note, I had to be up for work in the morning, this was a thursday.
The venue was nicely setup, lots of psycadelic wall hangings, plus the ubiquios leafy cargo netting to hide the fact this place is a college canteen during the day.
I was quite early so I grabbed a beer and had a chat with the guy who set it up, he informed me what was happening and left a bottle of water with him. Half an hour or so later I collected my bottle of water that had the nice addition of two pills and 2 drops of liquid acid. (around 10pm) Despite the fact I had work, I couldn't turn down the offer as its hard to get. As a future lesson I'll try to remember that acid trips can last well in excess of 12 hours.
The party was hotting up now, some good breaks and techno (yes techno, as in techno) was playing so I started dancing and made my way through my concoction. It hit quickly and intensely although I was far to occupied with the music and the dancefloor to notice and analyse as I often do, particularly when its a slow come up.
Nicely tripping away to the music, then I spot the face, the face of someone so familiar yet looking so different. Say hi, we kind of point at each other and say "I know you", attempt to talk but its mostly nodding. I ended up hanging around with him when I needed to take the odd rest from dancing. At some point I asked his name (A) and shook hands.
The dancing was amazing felt so emotional and I had this strong safe bond with the group that were dancing. The guy running the thing had got some of those weird puppety dancing people to come in half way through the night, real creepy looking halloween tree looking things. Took a while to realise it wasn't a hallucination.
Had an interesting time going to the bathroom as this was in the neighbouring bar that was filled with drinkers and some dodgy band. Felt a bit out of place and a tad paranoid, this soon passed once I was out of there and back through security.
Anyway the whole event itself was over pretty quickly, sat outside for a while on the steps with a few tripped out people, managed to roll a cigarette and watched the huge slab of concrete outside the venue for a while. It looked like a huge pool of rippling water. I didn't have the presence of mind to enquire about any after party, so I started to walk home. Well aware that I was completely shit faced and had work in 6 hours.
I made it down to the taxi rank on the university and found A and a few others, he suggested we share the taxi back to town, so I jumped in. The taxi drive was strange had moments of being completely with-it, chatting with some of the people in the taxi. Then would disappear off completely. We reached the station and I began looking for money to contribute to the taxi fare. Before I realise whats happened everyone else had paid for the taxi and exited, 2 other people had jumped in which completely threw me off. Quickly exited and said bye to A and co, and began the mile walk home.
The walk home was nice, I had the time to take in some of the visuals, particularly the night sky, which was filled with the twinkliest starts I had ever seen, had about three moons and had continuous shooting stars. I spent most of the walk with my head in the stars.
I was walking past this black painted railed fence, and noticed a guy about 50ft ahead walking his spotted dog. Got a bit twichy as it seemed odd that a guy was out this late walking his dog. As I got closer he and the dog merged into the fence and disappeared. That was the most realistic hallucinations I have ever had on any drug.
I make it home, sit down and listen to a little music. Its now nearly 4am. Having left the event about 2 hours before.
The mind trip had completely taken over, I had a lot of fun just listening to words in my mind and seeing what mental image that corresponded too. It was all how it shouldn't be and the english language had lost all meaning. My eyes open or closed didn't make alot of difference, strong visual distortions and patterns made my eyelids invisble.
I crawled up to bed about 5am, very circular thoughts over and over. I lay awake contemplating things till I had to get up and go to work at 8am. I still had alot of visual distortions, but was feeling relaxed and happy. My mind was still racing, but was able to hold sane conversations and snap out of it to do things.
Drove to work, felt very strange, convinced I was making a complete mess of it and aware that I was probably acting really strange. Although I was driving fine, just had to contend with the acidy thoughts that where still very much present.
I dodged doing any real work that day, spent most of the day in meetings with Managing Director, I actually came up with some good solutions to ongoing problems, looking at things in completely different ways.
I spent several hours just reading e-mails, I was enjoying reading immensely, looking for patterns and rhythms within people writing, "nicely" became a favourite word. The computer screen was a tough thing to deal with, flexing and looking very pixelated. This was at least 14 hours after the acid and it was still very present.
I was then being put in a very awkward situation, my boss wanted advice about making my girlfriend redundant. I was fairly close to my boss, and obviously close to my girlfriend. They both knew what the other was thinking and had to spend time talking with each of them. Anyhow she ended up resigning and I had to help her out as she was very upset.
By the time I made it home at 5pm, it had been a long day and my emotions where strung out a bit, then had to try and get the girlfriend sane again, she was talking about moving away to find work and getting really upset.
I calmed her down and eventually managed to get to bed around 10pm, my mind was still mangled and there where still some very minor visuals. This was nearly 24 hours after the drop, so that must have been some fairly strong acid.
When I woke up the following morning I felt fine and happy, despite what had happened the previous day, and I had a pleasant after glow and greatly improved mood for several weeks.
I guess I learnt that however messed up I am on substances, I am always able to appear relatively sane and deal with real life events at the same time. I made it home safely and still managed to function the next working day despite still very much tripping.
Oh and it turns out that I know Mr A very well. It was completely ridicuoulus that I didn't recognise him, let alone ask his name. I figured out who he was 2 days later and confirmed it when I next saw him. He looked about 7 years younger that night and I treated him as though I had met him for the first time.
I wish I could remember more of what was going through my mind that night, but I can never recall it, particularly when my thoughts become visual and jumbled.
Over and out.
