LSD is alien perception

So recently a lot of my friends have become interested in LSD and they have come to me asking what the experience is like. This got me thinking. What is the best way to describe the experience? And I have come up with an explanation that IMO is really the only way I can describe it well.

I have decided that in the late 40's early 50's aliens came to earth. The government did not want them here and threatened to kill them if they did not leave. But the aliens saw extreme beauty in our world and they wanted to stay. To convince the government to let them stay the aliens gave humans a chemical that allowed the human brain to perceive the world through the mind of the aliens. After seeing how incredible this world was to the aliens the government allowed them to stay and in return the aliens showed the humans how to produce the chemical that is now known as LSD.

I would couple that story with some examples of how my perception was changed and in my mind it seemed to cover as much as I possibly could using words. Does this seem accurate to you guys?

What I'm getting from this is only that the LSD experience is "alien" and "incredible." And that the government is somehow involved in all of this in a beneficial way?

Well it is alien and incredible and it was originally a research chemical used by the government before it got out as a recreational drug was it not? I also try to describe effects such as halos around lights, increased color awareness, rushes of thoughts ect. I just didn't think describing all of that on here was necessary as my post was already getting long

Also this is my first post and after re reading I didn't really get across the full entirety of what I was trying to say. Next time I will revise ??

The Wikipedia entry is actually a pretty good source for a short history of LSD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_lysergic_acid_diethylamide

And if any of your friends is interested in something beyond the quick and dirty, I think the documentary, "Hofmann's Potion," is about the best there is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpSLjdPiSH8 It was produced by the National Film Board of Canada, and it's actually quite pro-LSD. Whatever the case, it's wonderful and comforting to hear from all of the "grandfathers" of the movement ... and I think that watching this before a first trip might alleviate many bad first trips(?) IDK ... just a guess. It does put the watcher in a very positive and confident mood concerning LSD.

Yes, there are obviously the visuals. And, no, of course you don't need to describe those on here. What I think people who have never tried a psychedelic before might appreciate knowing in advance is the likelihood -- to a greater or lesser extent -- that they're going to lose touch with their very solid sense of "I" -- being themselves in this place and at this time and being in "mental possession" of all of the structural elements (friends, family, job, material goods) that reinforce the sense of "I." In short, people freak out not because they see halos around lights; they freak out because they look at their best friends and wonder, "who are they?" ... and on and on down that potentially scary mental hole.

Anyway, good luck to you guys!

And P.S. There's absolutely nothing wrong with your first post. No judgments. You write stuff and I respond. I write stuff and you respond. It's a dialogue. Everyone's here to learn and to help. Very easy process. %)

Thank you for the links I will definitely be sharing with my friends! I did find that research and somewhat knowing what I was in for really did help keep me in a positive headspace for my first trip. Knowledge is power and I found that out to the fullest over my first trip.

And I definitely understand what you mean when you say the visual effects are not the scary aspect. Thought processes can get terrifying in a hurry if you let them I will be sure to enlighten my friends on loss of self before any of them decide to try it.

Thank you for the feedback! Doing something for the first time can be daunting whether it be a psychedelic drug or writing on the internet. I appreciate the reassurance on my post!
