LSD hair test

I think we should make an exception since this thread potentially gets into the technical side of CG/MS on hair samples and the possible metabolites of LSD and their respective half lives, etc.

This is not as simple as "can I smoke a blunt and get a job in 3 days bro?".

Further I strongly disagree with BL policy of no drug testing discussion. Loss of jobs, community status, medical privilege, etc. is a significant portion of the harm that could be prevented in relation to drug usage because of the pervasiveness of testing. Reducing these socio-legal consequences most definitely falls under the umbrella of harm reduction in my opinion.

...and it could also be interpreted as the active help to avoid jurisdicial or career-related consequences, the former one being the main point. Such help can be used as an argument to close a website by governmental organisations, or to enforce other countermeasures against the 'psychoactive community'.

Although I feel the strong need to help people with such issues, I understand this Bluelight-policy quite well (and agree).

Anyway, back on topic: The differences between LSD and the vast majority of other drugs is the extremely low active dose and, to a minor degree, the chemical instability of the molecule. Both are the main reasons why the detection limit is below these of other drugs, with respect to the detection period. I don't have backup-info, but 3 days sound at least reasonable to me.

Peace! - Murphy

Not sure if this breaks any rules. But what part of the hair cell are these metabolites stored in which makes them so long lasting? I understand hair growth, but where's the storage/accumulation occurring exactly?
