A double-helping of Orange Twitch

Hope y'all like long trip reports.

Note: I am un-creative. Names have been changed. You will know what I mean.

It was a long time coming. I'd wanted to try LSD since my final year at high school. I wasn't disappointed. I wouldn't swap this experience for anything.

It started with a 2-hour drive (yes, a 4-hour return trip) to my friend's dealer (who supposedly had very reasonable prices, but turned out to be rather
average). We spent the longest time fart-assing around, waiting for her to finish work. A few hours later, we had our LSD and were on our way back home.

On the way back, J2 decided he was going to drop it the instant he walked in my front door, which seemed like a reasonable idea at the time, to both myself and T. When we get home a very frustrated J1 demands to know what took so bloody long. We explained the situation to him, and that we finally got the acid. We all dropped it together, and decided that we should eat before we start tripping (except for me - I wasnt hungry at the time).

After food, we waited for the longest time before noticing anything. We played some Halo 2 to pass the time. A few games passed, then T started mentioning tracers that he was seeing. I couldn't see anything yet. I decided to be patient for a moment, then

BOOM

I suddenly felt very different. It was an entirely new feeling, without a frame of reference to compare it to. I felt slightly nauseous. I tasted something
weird, it was sort of like orange Nerds (you know, the candy things?). I said as much to the group. They thought that was weird.

J2 told a joke about J1, who responded with a moment of silence followed by a rather comical announcement of the word "Twitch" (A play on what he normally does while playing Halo 2, which is usually akin to convulsions). Every time someone died unexpectedly, TWITCH!

We continued to play Halo 2. I found it much more fun than usual. A seemingly large amount of time passed, but when we looked at the clock it was only...

As the effects grew stronger, we decided our game wasn't doing the trip justice. Feeling the need to see the world outside, we walked out into my backyard. It was already dark, and the stars were shining. I looked at them and saw fractals. Endless self-repeating patterns of stars, stretching to infinity. I decided that looked really cool. There was a sort of energy, pulsating through the stars. J2 mentioned the clouds. He told me what he was seeing in the clouds, and 90% of the time I could pick the shape. But whatever it was at the time, it was always made out of triangles. Fat isosceles triangles, in a checkered pattern.

After spending an eternity on my trampoline looking at the sky, we returned indoors. When I checked the time I was surprised to find that such little time had actually passed.

T+2:45

We were now reaching the peak of the trip, and stuff was becoming funnier by the second. J2 decided we needed paper. And pens. I got some paper out of the printer tray and returned. J1 and T were confused by the notion, as they didn't know what to draw/write. J2 and I told them to write the first thing that popped into their minds. A lot of random drawings emerged. Mine looked radioactive, man. (Radioactive Man!)... J1 broke the ensuing moment of silence with TWITCH!

We decided to try and draw TWITCH. After many failings, and many tries of writing the word on the paper, we decided to give up. I looked at J2 while he drew something. I then looked down at my paper to see that I had drawn something without looking. I was convinced that that drawing *was* TWITCH. It looked like a demented lowercase "G". Much discussion was spawned from that, which seemed to take hours.

Well into the peak now, we went upstairs to see what the computers were like.

Conway's Game of Life was built for trippers. I have a version called Life32 on my computer. The patterns that emerge are simply fantastic. however, after a while of screwing around with it, it crashed, and brought the whole computer with it. It seemed both ironic and very straightforward that life would crash a computer (a non-living object).

T decided to try out World of Warcraft. Let me just say now, that game is freaky when you're tripping. The comical low-detail art style just feels right on acid. Anyway, T logs on and joins a battleground (for you non-WoW players, that's just a dedicated player-versus-player area with no death penalties). While he waits in the battleground queue, I restart my computer and log onto EVE (another MMO game, yes, I'm a nerd). I mentioned to my fellow EVE players that I was tripping balls. I didn't make much sense really.

^^ Guess which one is me

After so gracefully excusing myself, I looked over at T, who had been in the WoW battleground for a couple of minutes now. I told him to start playing, which shocked him because he thought it was still loading. Capturing the flag was hilarious (well, picking it up and dying within 5 metres at least). We got bored and went downstairs again.

T+3:45

I came down to see T opening the fridge. He pulled out a bottle of apple juice.

"Apple juice?" I asked, wondering what the point of that was (Duh, he was thirsty). He just about sprayed juice everywhere. Apparently I had made a really disgusted face at him when I asked. I didn't think I had, but I went along with it anyway.

J1 and J2 started watching the movie Cats and Dogs, which was on TV at the time (note: it had actually started about an hour earlier, se we were able to skip the ads! Digital TV + set-top-box with hard disk = AWESOME on acid). The evil cat seemed even more menacing than usual, and the dog's sop-story was particularly saddening, but we continued with the movie, and the ending was worth waiting for.

After the movie was over, we watched the Melbourne International Comedy Gala (also sans commercials). The routines were freaking hilarious. However, the background was very VERY distracting on acid, what with all the circles and sharp points and whatnot.

T+8:00

We couldn't think of anything else to do. J2 decided to try sleeping, and J1 played WoW. T and I watched some Invader Zim. I never realised just how much that show resembles an acid trip. I'm kind of glad we didn't watch it while peaking, cause we might have freaked out. Especially that episode, Rise of the Zitboy. That show's just fucked up. I always thought Zim was just an awesome cartoon, but it's got to be an inside joke about tripping. it just has to be. An inside joke that I am now somewhat clued-into, making the show all the better :D.

T+9:00

J1, T and I all finally went to bed. T and I talked for ages. Sleep seemed somewhat elusive for the longest time, but eventually we were able to retire for the night.

____________

Surprisingly, none of us had a bad trip. We all had a great time, which I think was fantastic. There were a couple of moments when I had to salvage the situation, and thankfully the suggestibility powers of LSD can work for good rather than evil, if used correctly.

I see now what people mean by dark areas appearing menacing - I had to let the dog out a couple of times through the night, and the darkness outside the front door seemed... bad. But I decided I didn't want to feel "bad", so I pulled myself together and closed the door.

I still have the "orange" tingling taste in my mouth (and teeth, wtf?) the morning after. I think it has something to do with how hungry I am.

I've decided that I must be more of a heavyweight when it comes to LSD, because compared to the others' explanations of their experience, mine was somewhat weaker. Or maybe it was just me.

Anyway, this was my first trip, for what it's worth. I hope it was an enjoyable read, because I enjoyed recalling it.

dear higher entities
i would like to taste orange nerds as well when tripping without having to buy the candy
tia
meanie :)

Now now, there's nothing wrong with computer games. I plan to make a living programming them, seeing as I've studied a goddamn degree on the subject.
