LSD and anti-nausea meds before trip?

My apologies if this is covered somewhere (I'm sure that it is, but I failed to find it in an efficient enough manner and my time to find out is running low).

Are either ondansetron (zofran) or promethazine safe to take just before taking LSD to ease the potential nausea? I didn't see them on the stickied list.

Thanks for your input!

Neither should case any problems. They may not help your stomach though, and promethazine is the less likely of the two (its only used for motion sickness).

Ondansetron is a fast acting inhibitor. I'd advise taking it if you feel you need it after dosing. Promethazine could have side effects that you'll notice more with LSD, and it actually makes me vomit, so I wouldn't even take it by itself.

The best way to avoid stomach discomfort on a come up of LSD is to eat healthy on days leading up to the experience, and eat very light, high quality foods on the day of dosing.

How common is vomiting on LSD? For the record, I've had experiences where I have vomited and experiences where i haven't vomited. In fact the cleaner acid made me vomit.

Nausea is a symptom of anxiety, and LSD shouldn't cause nausea. I've never had nausea on any trip ever before, besides on DXM and morning glory seed trips which is understandable. I would recommend lower doses or having benzodiazepines before a trip. It could also be possible you are interpreting hunger as nausea, as I've found tripping makes it hard to interpret your feelings. So try eating a light meal beforehand. Also, stay hydrated and make sure to sleep adequately before dosing.

Promethazine is sedating and acts as a weak 5-HT2A antagonist, so it would likely dull the trip.

Ondansetron is great for psychedelic-induced nausea. I've used it with mescaline to good effect...never needed it with LSD.

Actually. Nausea is common with psychedelics and just because you don't suffer from it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. LSD just happens to be one of the ones that is one of the least likely to cause it. I have taken many, many trips over the years and still sometimes throw up on acid. Especially on higher doses or depending on diet. I wouldn't say anxiety, I agree that the change in headspace and the whole psychedelic transition can sometimes cause it if slightly overwhelming as is perfectly normal on a comeup.

But also some people just get it, domperidone is useful although you may need to redose. As is ondansetron but if you are like me and drink on LSD the ondansetron just completely cuts you vomiting off and so I tend to end up far too drunk on alcohol, you need to be careful with dosing when using it I believe more so, but domperidone requires more dosing. I recommend just eating a small healthy meal and plenty of water throughout the trip, also be aware that if you get locked into throwing up you can sometimes cause it, same with other drug comeups like MDMA. So distraction is always good. The small meal means if you need to vomit you can vomit and it wont be difficult making the whole experience over with faster. Weed is also useful for me but I don't smoke it during the peak as I think it just clogs the headspace, but excellent for comeup/comedown transition.

It seems to me that there are lots of ways to ease gastrointestinal discomfort short of taking additional medications with unknown interactive effects. How about some really strong ginger ale -- the kind with real ginger (and lots of it) in it? That's always been enough for me with substances much more nauseating than LSD. (That said, LSD isn't nauseating in the least for me, so YMMV.)
