Im 5'8, 23y/o male with a healthy fighting weight between 150-160lb

I've been trying to get clean off opiates for a few weeks. For 2-3 weeks I'd only eat once a day, sometime between 6-9pm. I knew I was losing a lot of weight and muscle, but when someone I lived with commented on how much weight id lost and was concerned for my health (I'm not like skin and bones, I'd guess my current weight at 130-135lb)

since a few days ago then I've been making sure to eat atleast 2 real meals a day. One around 12-2pm and another between 6-9pm. I mean chicken, rice, beef, veg, potato, occasionally a trader joes frozen pizza or some frozen breakfast sandwiches. also have an orange or 2 or nut bars as a side to dinner

what can I be eating that will help get my weight up fast but will also be healthy? So no pizza hut or McDonald's etc. during this detox period I'm not really doing much physical activity, so I'm burning a low amount of calories.

this diet would be revolving around only two real meals a day. Eventually,I'll start eating breakfast again but during this whole ordeal it's really the last thing on my mind in the morning

Muscle milk and protein shakes will help you gain weight in a healthy way.

Try dried fruit, ie raisins, apricots, etc. with those nuts- peanuts and almonds probably being the most affordable. And whole milk, too. I' ve used milkshakes to help with gaining weight. Granola is also calorically dense :). Get some low impact excercise too, like walking, maybe light weights. And try to sleep well, if possible. Good luck in your new life, bro. Getting off of the drugs is always the best decision one can make.

what's your metabolism like generally?

2 meals a day is not right for most people.

Try eating nothing but rice and seasonal veg for a week, flush you out and treat you right. BEfore getting back onto foods working your way up over 2 weeks from easily digestibles to meat on the 14th day.

Eat this rice w/veg whenever you feel hungry, but try and make routine times to eat (like 9(optional breakfast), 12, 4 & 7 Brew up fresh ginger root tea to drink before EVERY MEAL.

To bump up your weight fast and healthy? Fast is not healthy - just eat right (look into Trophology/food combining), and then work out your diet from there which is fucking simple.

Unless you have a slow metabolism 2 meals a day is not enough.

What rehab exercise are you doing?

I suggest isometrics (search online for the Black Monks Prewcious sets of isometrics - they saved my life), calm swimming and yoga.

Eat more than 2 meals a day. Instead eat 4-5 small meals a day. Also eat more protein, carbohydrates, and drink water. Eating fresh fruit and vegetables also will be good for you, and I like the suggestion about eating nuts.

I know it sounds gross but I would eat organ meat, especially organic liver. It's cheap to buy and it will replenish most of your major vitamins for an entire month. Make sure it's organic though. Calf liver is usually better taste wise than the adult version. There are ways to prepare it where it tastes great.

Bone broths are also cheap and REALLY healthy. After eating chicken, just toss the carcass, bones and all, into a pot of water with a couple teaspoons of vinegar. After bringing it to a boil, set it to low heat and slow-cook it for a day. That broth will contain the full set of minerals your body needs, plus collagen, protein, healthy fat, etc. The marrow of the bones contains all the rare and essential vitamins/minerals you need. You can even buy beef marrow bones and do this. The broth is really tasty and you can use it to make other soups.

Sometimes the inability to keep on weight has to do with your body's ability to process calories. If you are lacking vitamins and certain co-factors then your body won't use energy as efficiently. For myself, I used to be skinny and I discovered through research that my liver's glycogen stores were low because it wasn't converting glucose properly, and that was due to a B12 deficiency.

If you are intermittently fasting through lack of appetite or laziness or tiredness, at the moment until you have your diet balanced out a bit more than right now, eating meat is not a terribly good idea, as your digestive fires are just not prepared for it - easily digestibles are what you need to pick up the pace for a few weeks.

I like the suggestion about the broth. Great stuff. I will use that one myself.

I highly recommend starting your day with 15-20 organic almonds, if you cannot deal with a full breakfast at the moment - this will give you all of the vitamins/minerals your body needs for the whole day.

Use pulses, dairy, eggs, and nuts and seeds to get your protein intake until you have spent a few "more regular" eating weeks, then move onto meats like fish, chicken, turkey, duck, pheasant (any game birds).

And again I stress - keep your digestive fires burning with freshly grated ginger root tea - brewed up for 10 minutes - add appetizers like cinnamon and a touch of black pepper to the mix, and either include 1or 2 cardomoms in your dish, or post-meal to keep your fire running smoothly. CHewing on a few fennel seeds will help digestion too.

Have you been eating a lot of kratom? Kratom is noted for making people lose weight. From my personal experiences with it, I feel that it is not easy on the GI system. I seem to remember you writing about taking kratom recently and just figured I should note this.

If you havent been socializing, maybe you should give it a start. Getting into a new body can be good for both sides of a relationship.
This one time I lost 69lbs in 4 months, and I had hypoglycemia like cindiotns for about a year and a half afterwards.

i was when i posted that yes. ive since stopped as part of the whole detox and such

thanks for the advice every1 it all seems pretty solid and im going to try to implement as much as i can into my diet

^^both mm and protein shakes are way too overpriced

Muscle milk is overpriced sugary garbage. Buy some whey protien from a bulk supplement shop and drink a shake with breakfast.

Eat chicken, egg whites, fish, vegetables and fruit.

Add in some light compound exercises (bench, squat, pull ups, push ups) and you will put on healthy lean mass.

Gaining weight to fast or even losing it to fast is not good. You body needs to be in a state of homeostasis to function properly. Lose weight to quick and you will put it back on, gain weight to quick (be it lean muscle or muscle with intracellular water) and you are bound to lose it

Almond butter and avocado. Try the almond butter with an apple or banana, and add avocado to salads or on an egg/egg white breakfast sandwich.

Doesn't the skin on your face become more loose when you lose weight rapidly? Im gonna have to do juice fast for few weeks and I am afraid my face is gonna get all droopy.

Unless you're carrying most your weight in your face or are quite old, no. Skin is incredibly resilient. Usually people that lose weight rapidly that end up with extra skin end up with it on their upper arms, upper legs, and abdomen/middle. Sometimes on the back as well if it's really an extremely large and fast weight loss. If you do carry a lot of weight on your face I suppose it would depend on your genetics and how well your collagen has held up.
