So, I thought this was just for diarrhoea but I've come across people on this site saying to others that it makes them high, is this true? Would it not constipate you too? Thanks!

User Malfunkshun will be able to help u with this question if its possible to find them, they reported a decent high and I believe there is a thread by them if its possible to find it, newbie here still learning the ropes, that's all I can kinda help u with really Dee

Guys don't do this. I can't find the link otherwise I'd post it here for you to see for yourself, but as of late a correlation has been established between people using high dose loperamide to attempt to flood their opiate receptors (either to try to get high which WILL NOT HAPPEN or to try to find relief from withdrawal) and there is evidence that this practice causes heart complications that have resulted in death.

This correlation has only been discovered recently so when you google about this, you'll find links from 2002 saying it's great. Don't trust them. It's not worth the risk, especially since it has 0 recreational value whatsoever.

We have a loperamide mega thread in the Other Drugs section of this forum, everything you need will be in that thread. You really can't get high off it.

Some people can feel "normal" on it when coming off of more active opiates, but it's more of a maintenence dont want to be sick thing. I myself have tried everydose imagineable and have come to the conclusion that for me personally 6mg is enough to stop shitting my colon out, but it will do no more at 200mg.

Do your research before downing a bottle. Google "bluelight loperamide megathread" or use the search function in the other drugs section.

It might give you a little of an opiate type feeling but it's a dirty feeling not a good high, it will make you have cotton mouth from hell and really tired at higher doses. If you're looking for something simple n easy to get get some kratom from a local head shop. It actually activates the mu receptor n will feel like a perk or vic high if your tolerance is low enough. But kratom is a stimulant at low doses and works more like an opiate at higher doses so make sure you take enough. Loperamide is not something to take for a buzz as much as we all wish it would n the side effects r shitty. Once it crosses the blood brain barrier it gets immediately booted back out by p glycoproteins so it can't attach to the opiate receptors in your brain to get you a buzz but it does attach to the ones in the rest of your body, mainly the gi track, which is why it's good for diarrhea because like all opiates the slow up the gi track very effectively.

Almost everyone who has had any opioid experience will tell you that loperamide is seriously lacking in recreational potential. Even when my tolerance was essentially non-existent (10-15mgs of hydro was all that was needed) I never got anything at high doses except opioid related side-effects like constipation, mildly labored breathing, and perhaps constricted pupils. Loperamide in high doses presents more danger than recreational effects.

I hate to be a nazi but unfortunately BDD guidelines forbid threads asking whether or not a drug has recreational potential though so I kinda have to close this thread... sorry :\. Your more than welcome to check out the loperamide thread in OD though :). 95+% of people will tell you there's nothing there recreationally though.

Before closing this thread I will say that the arrhythmia issues from high doses are a genuine concern. I try posting about them whever I see the topic of loperamide come up in hopes of this info getting out, and the amount of recommendations for lope go down. Rather than write another I'll just repost what I wrote in this thread that was posted in DiTM regarding a death mentioned on Dr.Drew's podcast. In this post are a few links to both semi-recent BL threads as well as some published articles/studies. I personally won't use it for opioid withdrawal anymore.

This isn't surprising at all, life threatening arrhythmias from high doses of loperamide have been documented before. In the past few months alone I have seen at least 2 threads about these arrhythmias from loperamide. Curiosity got the best of me and I started researching the topic a bit more and found many reports of heavy loperamide abuse... some as a result of opioid maintenance, others from the opiate naive in seek of a "high". To be fair the latter is certainly the minority, nonetheless they are out there.

I also found out that there's a subset of people self medicating their IBS with huge daily doses of loperamide. I think more awareness of these issues needs to be brought to the light with all the recommendations I see for loperamide as a withdrawal remedy. I've been guilty of it myself before hearing about these heart issues. There has also been a couple reports of death in the loperamide megathread, though I'm unsure if they were cardiac related.

Full offense to Dr. Drew, his skepticism is meaningless. I've heard him confidently argue that attraction to thicker woman is pretty much always linked to childhood trauma 8). He has an excessive need to explain everything and when he has no explanation he will immediately jump to skepticism. It's equally as fascinating as it is annoying.
