Hello, my story is like many BLers on here. After an injury i became addicted to opioids. I struggled with my addiction for years and could never beat it. Having tried mmt, suboxone treatment, slow tapers using doc(oxy), slow tapers using all forms of opioids, rapid tapers, and the list goes on blah blah blah. approximately a year ago i became sick of having to take pills everyday. I learned of loperamide and I begin to take it as a form of maintenance therapy. It eliminated most w/d symptoms and allowed me to sustain a six dollar a month habit. I tried dosed up to 150 mg but in my opinion 50-60mg felt just the same. I dosed with 60 mg ever other day and after four months i could go up to four days without redosing. I never recieved any kind of high but i slept awesome, didn't hurt as much, and all around felt better. Occasionally i would take oxy or hydro, but it never did anything while on loperamide. At first i thought the loperamide was keeping my tolerance at a monstrous level. I know believe it may have been just liver enzyme saturation or poor absorption from my gi due to inhibited peristalsis. Though my habit was managed, it came with some nasty effects. Mainly severe dehydration, constipation that was severe( iin my case loperamide was 100 times more constipating than hydrocodone or even methadone.) bloating, weight gain from shit not being removed from my intestines, and extreme blurry vision.

Around February, i realized that i was only defecating maybe twice a month. My stomach was extremely distended, and i felt just all around like shit. I let this go on for another two months before learning that my aunt had a fecal impaction and required surgery. I became extremely paranoid and decide to quit taking the loperamide. Now again i was only taking 60 mg ever other day. So a week ago i simply stopped taking it. I worried that i would be debilitated and would suffer again. However that was not the case. I have a fairly rapid metabolim so i began to feel some mild w/d's at day two. Day three came and so did the horrible gas and stomach cramps. It felt like i had an obstruction and i constantly palpated my stomach. I also experienced leg pains and cramps. However these were mostly relieved by hydrating myself, taking a combination of naproxen and tylenol, eating and taking a multivitamin. Day three the dehydratiion and leg pains became worse but were resolved by the same method as day two. My stomach was severely cramped at night and night along with mild insomnia. Day four, five, and six were mostly achy days along with mild insomnia. Today is day seven and i feel pretty good. I slept at least four hours and am getting my motivation back.

Now i am not approving of this method, but it worked for me. Now i am curious why the w/d was so mild compared to any other opioid. Is it because very little is allowed to remain in the bbb and my body was healing and producing its own endogenous peptides? I simply cannot believe that the withdrawal was this easy. Being on loperamide obviously allowed me to learn new non addictive behaviors because i have zero mental cravings for opioids. Any input is welcomed

Withdrawals are obviously different for everyone... but generally aren't loperamide withdrawals are considered mild to begin with? Good for you for being opioid-free though.
What exactly were you taking & at what dose before moving to the loperamide?
