After recently having a close call from buying fake oxy 30's, I had a wake up call and want to get on suboxone, If I go to an addiction specialist and tell them my situation will I be able to keep taking the klonopin if they prescribe suboxone, or would they not prescribe it to me, because both interact and have long half lifes.

Generally speaking a lot of clinics do not want patients on benzos when they are admitted. You will most likely not be able to find a doctor that will treat your addiction while prescribing you benzos odds are they will require a psychiatrist to prescribe them and you to have a verifiable prescription with a history of needing the drug.

The general idea is that if you are in treatment you need to be off drugs not on more. My g/f almost wasnt accepted by the methadone clinic because she was on 5mg of valium once a day. This was after she went down from 40mg a day over 3 year all prescribed by her psychologist and valium was the benzo they decided gave her the most relief of her symptoms. This was well documented over 3 years and because benzos are usually a no go at the methadone clinic she was red flagged as a high risk patient and almost denied at intake.

If you are prescribed benzos you may have to lower your dose or show that you are willing to take less to be treated for addiction. You need to show that you are willing to change your life and not substitute addictions. A lot of places also have "slots" so they prefer those slots to be filled by people who are drug free in a sense. It may be different for a private physician but her 5mg of valium almost prevented her from getting on the program period.

Most places will not give an addict addictive drugs even if they will help.

I agree, except to say that it's possible to find a sub physician in the US who will prescribe both, it's rare in some areas, more common in others. I was on methadone for four years and now bupe for seven. I was never denied my 4-mg/day clonazepam. In fact it was prescribed by the second methadone clinic I went to in a major U.S. city.

Maybe I was fortunate, maybe I got " in" b/f these clinicians started to crack down on benzos in ORT.

I would call every bupe physician in your area and simply ask. Any that seem remotely willing, hit them up. I guess that's obvious, but when I moved once to a conservative town in Idaho that's what I did and I eventually found the one doc that would do it. Psychiatrists may be the best bet, that's what mine is at the moment. Helping me taper off benzos - at my request.

Best wishes.

Ya I have a psychiatrist that is prescribing my klonopin, low dose .5mg /day for my panic disorder. And I am trying to get off oxy, with bupe, do I just google around for suboxone doctors? Or do I need to look at my insurance site to see what mine will cover. Never been 2 an addiction specialist or a sub doctor or whatever, new to it please advice

There was one doctor I knew that prescribed both together. His clinic was shut down, but, I'm sure there are others out there. A private doctor may also be a viable option.

I told my sub clinic I didn't want to lower my dose anymore cuz I get bad panic attacks n shit when I w/d n I was w/d'ing everytime I lowered....head doc @ the clinic hooked it up w/ script of kpins but only one time deal of 30. Gave me # for psychiatrist for more . Never hit her up n I'm out of kpins. Fuck. Lol

En1ose been on subs 3 yrs, would have never gotten on em if I knew what I do now. Or at the least I wouldn't b on them for as long as I have been. Lot of ppl myself included have had adverse oral health effects from them. I.e. Receding gum lines & tooth decay...for me it is receding gums & having to scrape insides of bottom teeth (where the sub sits) for an hour w/ dental tool about once a year lol. No build up or anything it's happened twice, wake up out of the blue n bottom front 4 insides of teeth r brown. They won't tell you this. Lol

Dude I thought I was the only one. I have lost (had extracted) two teeth because they were decaying when I was on subs long term, and my dental hygiene was impeccable.

To OP: That is a fairly low dose. Just be upfront and honest with your sub doc, and I would ask that you do a rapid taper....how long have you been using opiates?

Subutex does not decrease respiratory depression hardly at all, the interaction between both is hardly anything. Its more of a case of them not trusting you with having both. I was on 120mg of Methadone and scripted Diazepam and Tamazepam at the same time so they know the dangers are low, they just don't trust you mate.

Lol same man, it's horrible for our mouths, I started thread few days ago called "calling experts on law / suboxone" a few other ppl said the same exact thing & I am super ocd about my teeth as well so know it's the subs

Of course I pick up my script yesterday & there's a page or 2 of warnings & not one mention of what it's doing to ppls mouths. My abuse counselor hit his drug rep for sub friend up and documented but obv the rep was like "ya I haven't heard of that" such snakes man , oh & im only on 2mg films now taking 1/2mg a day....pharmacist gives me 14 8mg instead of 14 2mg....112 mg instead of 28mg lol debating whether to ever go back since I'm on such a low dose , just gonna b trickier to cut so small.
