Looking for like minded chronic pain people to try something new
Ok, so real quick recap of my old situation. I had a crushed L5/S1 vertebra, no fluid, and crushed nerves. I did everything from acupuncture, PT, epidurals and more over a two year period. Nothing helped. Btw at the tim.I was 27, @ 29 I was referred to a pain mgmt dr. Ended up taking oxycodone, morphine, soma, gabapentin and xanax for 7 years.
Checked myself into detox/rehab, stayed for 7 days, went to every meeting, 7 a day, and had an open mind. Now here is why im writing this post.
I never used any drug before my chronic back problems, im not a drinker, ill have a glass of wine here or there, and maybe a beer.
I personally have ZERO pull inside of me to use opiates or benzos again. I know I was addicted, this is not debatable, but I feel mine was limited to physical addiction.
I believe in part of the NA and AA programs but dont think all steps apply for me and my case. What I would like to do is take bits and pieces from NA ana AA and focus on people who are physically addicted to prescription drugs used for chronic pain. That didnt use illegal drugs before or after but need support with what they are going through.
Im.not claiming to be better than the next addict because I was one. I just think there are others out there that partially relate to AA or NA, but truthfully know one they are clean that trigger or pull is not in them.
I want to review and possibly look to turn the normal rehab after work and group meetings on their heads and open a new path. One of acceptance and understanding, the values of NA or AA and create a hybrid for those of us in this position.
Please reply if you'd be interested in talking or helping. All suggestions are welcome, thanks to anyone that reads and replys.
Sincerely,
Bob
