First off, I'd like to offer an apology to the mods in the event that this is the wrong section for this thread...

Second off, I'm brand new to this forum -- and relatively new to Internet forums in general -- but I hope I don't break too many
norms and rules...

Thirdly, I'm looking for some advice... I hope that some of you are willing to help a total stranger in need :)

Now to the point: I'm looking for a specific drug to help me cope with my depression. I have moments when I can't control my
emotions and experience severe dysphoria, and this has resulted in various unhealthy responses. For various reasons -- not least of
which is a relatively irrational fear of the medical system -- I don't want any prescription drugs... So I'm looking to the experts
on the Internet for some back-alley help. :)

There are a few important criteria that I'm looking for in a drug:

-- symptomatic (something I can take whenever I need, but not something I have to "add to my diet")
-- Legal (just in general; I don't expect you to know my local laws)
-- Fast-acting
-- Short lived (I don't want something that will last multiple hours... Just something to get me through the moment)
-- Convenient (ideally, something I can inhale, take sublingually, or swallow; something I don't have to plan ahead for)

Now, I realize that this sounds overly utopian, but I'm looking for the best recommendation that fits the above criteria... In my
perfect world, there'd be a legal drug that I can inhale whenever I'm having a "moment" that would make me feel happy or sedated or
whatever and take the pain away for a brief period of time... Is there anything at all that might aid me?

The closest I've found is nitrous oxide, as it's almost exactly what I'm looking for, except for the major problem of laughing like an idiot... I want something that's less extreme so that people remain unaware to what I'm up to, as I'd like to be able to do this whilst going about my day-to-day business.

Thanks all! I hope this post isn't too ridiculous. :)

Hi sola, welcome to Bluelight :)

I'm sorry but we don't generally allow requests for drug recommendations. Furthermore, there is definitely nothing that fits what you are looking for. If there were a drug that one could inhale or slip under the tongue etc, that would rapidly make you feel happy/pain-free/calm, and only for a brief period of time, yet was legal, did not require a RX and did not have serious side effects or cause addiction/physical dependence, don't you think nearly everyone would be using it? I can't even think of a drug that fits most of your requirements. And masking these kinds of issues with drugs does nothing to solve them or treat the cause, and is a fast track to psychological addiction.

If you wanted to make a thread asking about supplements or therapy etc that might help, that would be acceptable, but I don't think I can allow this thread. Plus the answer to your question is that no such drug exists. The closest I can think would be something illegal (or Rx only), addictive and/or dependence-causing, that would probably last longer than you want, and that would have side effects or adverse health effects.

Please investigate other ways to cope with your problems and how you react to them. For example, why does a strong unwanted emotion have to be so upsetting, to be something you want to instantly suppress, and have to "result in various unhealthy responses"? I know how bad it hurts (from personal experience), but my advice would be to try to look for ways to work on the cause of your issues and to not be so distressed or feel like you need something to immediately make it stop. Think outside the box, maybe consider/try things like mindfulness techniques, various types of therapy/counseling, self-help books, alternative medicine, etc. Searching for the perfect drug is not the answer, believe me.

I'm going to close this, please send me a private message if you have any questions at all. I really wish the best for you <3

EDIT: Also The Dark Side forum is a great place for getting support/advice for mental health and life issues, just read their guidelines before posting.
