I've been trying out all these free MMOs lately, and I can't seem to be able to settle on one. I was playing Perfect World for a while but that just got boring as all hell. Anyone playing anything that's worth my time?

Runescape is a good one, it's free to. well free to play like most online MMO's.
"WolfTeam" is a awesome MMO! I play this shit all the fucking time, well worth it. :)

Wolf Team? Never heard of it. guess I'll check it out. I used to play Runescape before. I played the shit out of that game until my account got hacked... Thanks for the advice.

Its gotta be free ? Could always try everquest on a emulator server its an older mmo but a good one, I think WoW does emulator servers too but never really liked any of em.

i played eve online for a bit last year, i had never played any MMO game before then but i was blown away by the insane amount of detail and was hooked right away. basically, it all takes place in space and you have a spaceship as an avatar that you fly around in and dock places. seems like a boring premise, but it's really engaging to find a niche amongst the many ways to generate income (i.e. as a trader, or a salvager, or a miner, or a warmonger; there are different classes of ships and different types of social circles to help you get ahead in each profession.) you also really get the feeling of community, even though things might seem disconnected across the wide virtual distances of space, markets and such are insanely connected (as evidenced by eve market data aggregators (eg. http://www.eve-central.com/)

i quit after the first pay period ended because i didn't play the game hard enough in that first stretch to earn enough game money to renew my membership (which is cleverly disguised as a "pilot's license" but it's really a way to keep playing the game without having to pay back into it with real money.)

all in all though, it's awesome shit. the space scenery looks amazing at all times and the UI is wicked but it doesn't consume a great deal of resources so you can alt-tab and actually be productive while you wait for your ship to cross to the other side of the galaxy for an arms deal or battle or something. damn. just talking about it now makes me want to give it another shot :D

I've been looking for one too. Does anyone know of a MMO that is NOT point and click? (as in, not like diablo or any game like that). I'd like to find one that allows free control of the character (as in first person). Just like in Morrowind or Oblivion.

Runescape was awesome until Jagex removed the wilderness...Now it's just hell dodgy :(

The closest thing to a worthwhile mmo is eve online. Terrible interface and laggy. But all mmos are these things. Eve at least has a worthwhile core game.

Plus they released an expansion this week I believe.
