looking for a certain type of movie to watch on LSD

check out neave.com if you haven't before. Stay away from "television," unless you have a strong mind. I've tripped with individuals who couldn't handle themselves and lost their shit from checking out television while under the influence of psychedelics. Everything else on neave is pretty sweet though if you're tripping. You can draw in 3D, among other things. Television, by the way, is a section of neave, I am not referring to an actual television.

Enter The Void!!!!

This movie isn't completely peaceful all the way through, but I would definitely watch it on acid. It's got the most insane credit roll I've ever seen high, so that might trip you out a bit but the mindset it puts you in is pretty cool.

This is REALLY astounding tripping, abstract, calm, beautiful, yet extremely deep and thought provoking and spiritual as well. Amazing actually, you can probably find snippets of it on you tube (BUT BE WARNED THEY ARE SURELY OF CRAPPY LOW QUALITY COMPARED TO THE REAL VIDEO).

Ken Jenkins, Illumination
"Astonishing beauty...A breakthrough beyond any abstract imagery ever committed to videotape...leaves jawdropping viewers mesmerized." (Billboard)

DVD - 42 minutes

Illumination is visual music, an experience of light and sound, designed to nurture peace, creativity, and inspiration. Colorful images dance in harmony with celestial, music creating a spellbinding experiences, an enchanting feast for the eyes and ears.

“Remarkable… mesmerizingly beautiful, richly yet subtly colored, and unfailingly fascinating.”

Oh yea, there's a sequal, also: Illuminations 2

Synopsis

This sequel to award-winning film maker Ken Jenkin’s “Illumination” DVD is a more than two hour journey of magical sights and sounds, including beautiful flowing colors, unfolding mandala’s, starscapes, crystal worlds, laser effects, and more. Part one, which is over an hour long, is set to the ethereal synthesizer music of Michael Diamond, with a special guest appearance by ambient music pioneer Steven Halpern. Part two showcases the electronic sound artistry of Toronto composer, Sylken.

Illumination 2 is visual music – an experience of light and sound, designed to nurture peace, creativity, and inspiration. Colorful images dance in harmony with celestial music, creating a spellbinding experience, an enchanting feast for the eyes and ears. The imagery morphs and evolves slowly, with some segments filmed in soft focus, creating a relaxing, sensual experience that's easy on the eyes. In fact, some viewers have reported that it makes a perfect background for intimate spaces.

Unlike some other “light show” type DVD’s, which are created digitally on a computer, much of Ken Jenkin’s special effects magic is created optically, on custom made light projection devices, which Ken has designed and built. He has also done special effects for a production by Shirley MacLaine, as well as worked on numerous documentaries and visionary art DVD’s.

Another collaboration which Ken Jenkins and Michael Diamond worked on together is “Sacred Visionary Art” – produced by The Global Peace Foundation, is also available here: www.filmbaby.com/films/3688

I second "Winged Migration." In fact I also third and fourth Winged Migration.

This is a fabulous movie about bird migration with camera work done basically entirely from the SKY right next to the birds! You get to follow them as they migrate, accompanied by a great soundtrack. It is peaceful at its finest.

Planet Earth is cool, but honestly the DVD version has that loser dude do the voiceover instead of Sagourney Weaver (or however she spells it) and the music is nothing compared to Winged Migration.

Oh and hey what do you know, it can be seen free on youtube. Even a hippie doped up on acid and having a hard time making sense of reality could find her or his way to this thread and click the link!

It's right here acid head!!! ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9lYEor72YQ <---

Fantastic planet, Eternal sunshine for the spotless mind,Gummo,Donnie Darko,Naked Lunch...ugh i could go on for days...then again these mite not all be peaceful :/

I am very surprised no one has recommended a Waking Life yet. One of the best films to watch on psychedelics.

Good movie on any drug but I wouldn't watch it more than twice. The theories don't get much more convoluted than the first couple of times you try to digest them.

Animatrix is definitely my favorite alternative thinking animations. Start with Second Renaissance and you'll see why.

+1 for Fantastic Planet and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Although I still think Koyaanisqatsi is your best bet. It's not really negative or positive - it's a just a windows that lets you peek into a holistic vision of our world. IMO, that works perfectly well with for a more laid back LSD trip. 2001 can get too "spaced out" sometimes.

Another fun documentary to watch is LSD - The Beyond Within. I actually watched it the first time I did acid (aftre the peak) with a bunch of friends and it hit the spot.

Fantastic Planet is also pretty good - it presents a pretty interesting allegory for the cold war and it has some pretty "far out" visuals.

A lot of interesting movies have been suggested, in my opinion however some of them are very inappropriate suggestions for this thread.

For example Gummo or Waking Life are nothing like what the OP describes he wishes for in a movie, don't get me wrong both are very good movies but watching Waking Life stoned was enough to take me on a wild ride and I wouldn't say I'm that sensitive to this sort of stuff.

Another suggestion I don't agree with is Enter the Void which in my opinion is just a pretty movie that lacks substance and doesn't have much to offer.

Winged Migration, the recommended nature documentaries, Ashes and Snow, 2001: A Space Odyssey and if you feel like pushing yourself a bit but probably in a worthy direction Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi. Oh i'm not sure if it was mentioned but the BBC doc Life narrated by David Attenborough is another great choice, at least it worked for me while on a Morning Glory trip.

Yeah the nature documents mentioned here would be my choice too. Another must see movie to watch under influence, or plain sober for that matter, is Kim Ki-Duk's beatiful masterpiece Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter... and Spring. Really gorgeous landscapes and serene zen buddisht atmosphere during the whole movie.

I understand what you're saying, it's definitely not in the category of what Gerald92 was asking for..but I don't think it's just a cosmetic movie. Yeah it's not the most gripping subtext ever, but there's something there if you just think about why he is seeing certain things, whether he's actually dead or just tripping, etc. just saying

This, this, this, a bit ashamed I forgot about it, it has a story but there's not that much talk and it's a very smart story in my opinion.

Baraka, definately. And if you're in the mood for some real thought-provoking, philosophical stuff go with Waking Life. I'll admit it can be a lot to take in and think about depending on how you feel, however.
