remember once upon a time
everything looks so new to you
interesting and wonderous
they catch your fascination
you'd stop in your footsteps
to admire with awe
the amazing sights and sounds
that seem all around

years later that fascination waned
in its place cynical eyes that
see differently
concerns about work and money
prevails in your life
you still hear the same sounds
you still see the same sights
but the beauty has faded
this is what most people fear
that you've become "jaded"

so take a second
or a minute
or even a life time
stop when you can
look around
smell the flowers blooming
go walk in the rain
look around in your world
with wonder again :)

I know I did ;)

I always find it hard to articulate this kind of stuff....it's hard to write something positive that doesn't sound hokey, but you've managed it quite well here bis!

This reminds me of frente...it's kind of innocent and cute but has adult depth to it so it doesn't come across at all as corny.

...And it's always good when you can find that part of yourself that still appreciates the nice stuff in the world too. :)

*hugs*

This was great! A message that I think a lot of people need to hear.

It seems a little too easy for people to shift once they start chasing the almighty dollar.

i thought i'd learned the lesson of this poem a long time ago. yet, looking at my life over the past year, it's the above quote that summarises it best. thank-you for helping me to start looking at the world with new eyes again =D.

You know, I think i's a sad fact of humanity that the awe we feel for the day tends to become less every morning. And it's simply because we are progressive learners.

But one could also argue that there is so much beauty and awe in this universe that one man could never get to the point of filling his brain with a certain portion of the universe, and from there become miserable about it :)

Anyways, I love your words biski, nice one :) thankyou (:
