Even if you stay downtown for the convenience of being located near the festival do yourself a favor and get the hell out of downtown to hang after the shows. There isn't jack shit to do after 5 pm in the loop and it is largely lame as fuck.

The area around the park is a glass curtain jungle after the last show of the evening. Do yourself a favor and wiki chicago neighborhoods, and pick one that sounds appealing to you-- then find a hotel near an El stop.
 
Most people I talked to are staying at the Congress right across the street.
I'm assuming it's pretty pricey.

As far as after Lolla, check out a club on Belmont and Pulaski, on friday nights in the summer they spin the best EDM.

The problem with that is my lame friends are never there during Lolla so what's the point, aye Finder? ;)

No, I stand by my 'keep a hotel downtown' sentiment.
If it's the central focal point you can venture out to the neighborhoods before or after the shows with the confient options of a shower or a short nap, (you might need one of either) before you start moving again.
