Hello all I am hoping there is someone out who has been on this drug regime at some point in their lives. I have just started taking lithium as a augmenter of my antidepressant effexor. I have taken effexor for years and full enjoyed the effect of my heavy sativa smoking habit. Only a few days into my lithium treatment I seem to have lost the giddy optimism that I get for the first 20 minutes after I smoke. I still feel the backbone of the stonedness if anyone can understand, but the "fun" is greatly reduced. In response to this frustrating predicament I just smoke more and more hoping to go beyond the Lithium. It would make sense lithium is a mood stabilizers it lessening both highs and lows. Has anyone had experience with lithium and other recreational drugs Amphetamines Benzos Other?
Hoping it will Pass

My sister took lithium for 15 years and never got much of anything from most other drugs (weed, alcohol, ect.). As a result, she didn't use any other drugs. Now that she is off, she thoroughly enjoys smoking pot and drinking recreationaly. It's strange, she is even now trying other drugs like cocaine now that she is starting to 'feel' again, but as a grown woman not a experimental young adult/child. It's almost as if the lithium put her in a stalemate type of position where she had no desire to try anything else. Hopefully she won't go off the deep end now she is off of lithium though.

Lithium helped her when she needed it, but it did pretty much take over her entire life. Hopefully lithium is right for you because I am going to take a stab at this and say as long as you are on lithium, this will NOT pass.

Also think about your tolorance it might have been raised. Try taking a break.

Thanks for the advice not what I was hoping to hear. Although I am getting used to the side effects of Lithium but it is pretty mind numbing stuff.
