I've been dreaming of rolling, brown mountains.
Of clean highways and crowds of surfers amid the waves.
I've been thinking that I belong somewhere.
Even if there is not here and I'm so far away.
I've been hoping to finish this book I started.
Though I can't write more than a paragraph or a line a day.
I've been feeling like life is starting again.
And I'd call you all to tell you why but I don't know the words to say.
There's this girl who lives in my house.
She's got new red hair and the joy is starting to fill her up again.
There's so many people I miss right now.
But I keep them near by thinking of them now and then.
There's a chill starting to fill the air.
It'll be my last fall, last winter till I don't know when.
There's beauty in the world for me.
And it's as simple as the soft touch of someone's skin.
Once I lost my hopes and dreams.
I found them in the sound of falling rain.
Once I knew that my life was my destiny.
Now I'll settle for the times that come between the pain.
Once I cried at the thoughts that death brings.
Until I remembered that I would one day follow him down that lane.
Once there was a dream of brown mountains.
Only by chasing it will I remain sane.
I'm on my way home.
I've rediscovered the grace of the sky.
I'll try to never let my doubts overcome my hope.
I know love, for this all the rest fades away.
Of clean highways and crowds of surfers amid the waves.
I've been thinking that I belong somewhere.
Even if there is not here and I'm so far away.
