Libido Problems

I'm currently 19, 20 next month and transgendered. Over a year ago, I was finding it quite hard to cope and ordered some spironolactone, an antiangroden, off the internet. My dad found them and he took them off me so I would have to stop. He said I should come off them gradually, but most of the time he forgot and I was too ashamed to ask for some.

Since then my libido has been severely decreased and sometimes I have problems maintaining an erection. However, it has got better, but I feel as if the improvement has stopped.

Is it worth it to go to the doctors, and if so, does anyone know the sort of thing they would do? Or am I just gonna have to live of viagra for the rest of my life?

Dear Peter, as a transgendered person you should know more about your own scene! Taking an antiandrogen will lower your libido.
Many transgenders have mixed feelings about their physical appearance and transsexuals often have such negative feelings about their bodies they rarely have sex, particularly of the penetrative variety.
But everybody's different so this does not necessarily apply to you.
What might restore your libido is a testosterone gel. You should talk either to your doctor or endocrinologist about this.
Are you planning to transition? Why did you take spiro? Did you just want to stop yourself from becoming more masculine?
Anyway why is your Dad interfering? It's not his business and the last time I looked 18 was the age of legal majority in the UK.
Get in touch with a TG organization like Transliving or the Roses to get more advice.
