Letting Go

Yeah, meditating before tripping is always a good thing. I also like to stretch before hand to help loosen up the body so energy can flow through it easier. And if you have trouble relaxing smoke a bunch of weed.

You should also clearly state out loud to yourself what it is that your looking to gain out of the experience that night/day, whether it be spiritual enlightenment, a fresh start, or to just have a good time.

Also, dont forget not to give into astonishment. When I first started tripping I was so busy looking at how amazing everything was that I didnt get anywhere, and before I knew it the trip was over.

I think I did that for the come-up, and by the time I was ready to "go somewhere" it wouldn't happen because my location changed for the worse.

Really do have to try that sensory deprivation tank thing though. I saw a video of Joe Rogan talking about it... pretty lulzy. 8)

Letting go is, in a way, a bit of a misnomer at first.
Because the actual letting go leads right back to the letting in. Like breathing, in and out, as the Hindu's call pranayama. Might be something to look into if your into meditation.
Your perspective is confined to the belief that you, as an individual, are limited to experiencing that, as a reality. But what is going on here is that your point of reference defines the limits of your awareness. You can only go so far out there, or so deep in here, until you realize that there is no limit, no end to the insight. The panoramic view; can you turn around and see what is observing your observation of an observer? Consciousness playing hide and seek. The Knower and the Known lol.
Good luck :)

Sometimes there is no letting go--it's a white-knuckle trip and there's no backing out. I've sometimes felt this...and also just felt enormously uncomfortable with the somatic effects of a drug.

A benzo would be nice in these instances, but then again, may also prevent some positive experiences once the body discomfort is over and a trip enters metaphysical terrain.
