Letter to and from an Insufferable KnowItAll

It's the question, see.
That's the difference between man and beast.
Animals don't have to question their existence,
their reasons for being...
their dreams.
Humans are of a peculiar bent,
in that we draw ourselves a line in the sand-
"Okay, if I can learn this much, then I'll be happy,
or at least smarter..."
But what it comes down to
is the idea that the human race
is looking for a finish line.
We want a tangible understanding
of where, when, and why we are trying to learn
and what or who we'll be if and when we get there.
Supposing there is a limit to the knowledge available to us-
a seeming impossibility,
considering the infinity of human potential-
it appears that we want to see it coming...
to gauge how near we are to that liminal experience.

Personally,
my experience has shown me
that
the more I learn
the more there is to learn.
But then again,
I'm a twenty-five year old
who knew everything a mere ten years ago.
Now
I think I have plenty to learn,
but I have never been more anxious to embrace it...
"to fly on the wings of my perception."

So,
I think
I'll keep trying...
if you don't mind-
and if I stumble across that line
I'll let you know.

heh. I think all 15 year olds think they know everything. It's the beauty of being 15. I definitely know where you're coming from (and do let me know what you find out.)

This is great... personal, philosophical without being ponderous... and it possesses that all-important quality: clarity. :)

Love this part; it's been said before, but you make it lively and conversational (like you were saying it casually over a coffee):

Personally,
my experience has shown me
that
the more I learn
the more there is to learn.
But then again,
I'm a twenty-five year old
who knew everything a mere ten years ago.
