fear is what the government has. if weed was legal it would be the largest cash crop america ever seen. and if it were produced domestically they couldnt say that we support terrorism. terrorism is supported by us purchasing oil more than weed.
If your against....
You give me the reason why you are against marijuana legalization. My debate will blow yours out the water. You’ll be so hot in the face because you’re embarrassed by the fact you were put to shame

Why would the government fear having a large cash crop? And why would cannabis be the largest cash crop in America? It's not the largest cash crop in any country where it is legal to grow.

they dont fear having it as the largest cash crop. they can tax it, it would just be real hard. and in most countries its not legal to grow, its legal to consume, and also not legal to sale. on a trip to BC we asked them for green, they no its not legal to sale, but we'll cheef with you.

the only green consumed would be only domestically produce in america

I really hate stupid opinions on both sides of the drug war.

Imagine if there was no one like ^that poster, the pro drug campaign would have alot more credit.

Um, yeah, okay... but for instance Tobacco. Tobacco grown in America is shipped world wide, it's usage is many times that of cannabis in total volume by anyones estimate, but it's not Americas number 1 cash crop. And there's no way cannabis would get shipped world-wide like tobacco does.

tobacco used to be one of americas biggest cash crops wasnt it?

but yeah, weed would help the economy

I think it would take a while for the crime to go down. There is a massive network of growers>distributors>dealers>buyers, that would not just give up.
Prices may go down but the illegal dealers would be there for a while. Especially if the goverment did tax the shit out of it

do you think weed would be illegal around the world if america legalized it?thats the question.....im sure if america makes weed legal canada would be sure to follow and so on.

but I'd be shocked if america wasnt one of the last countries in the world to legalize it on a large scale...

it is slowly begining to legalize across various states. of course, its only being legalized for medicinal use. not sure about other states, but in california, at lot of counties have decriminalized possession of an ounce to just a $100 fine.

also, a british group recently predicted that marijuana would be legalized to a large extent by 2020. http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6288

herb is banned in some countries due to islamic law.. (drugs are a no-no in their religion).. its not just about politics/economy/etc..

i doubt religions are willing to "bend" the rules just to benefit the govt... but i dunno money makes people do anything these days..

i dunno man. think about it. tobacco, the government taxes it to hell. still only....3-6 bucks a pack in most states. now think about getting 20 finely rolled j's for 3-6 bucks a pack. it might be a bit more, only because the industry has just started...but if it were commercially grown, prices would drop DRAMATICALLY, even if it were taxed.

therefore, unless the growers>distributers>dealers all lowered there prices dramatically, they would be out of business....even if they did, there would really be no business for them if you could go to any 'ol convenience store and buy a pack.

Nice idea, but that's certainly NOT going to happen, just to make an example, look at this article:

haha, yay! thats what i was thinking. tobacco could be the same way. but if marijuana were to become a crop as big, or at least close to tobacco then the prices would be cheaper than black market prices. even with its taxation to hell

that article talks about government pot though, if the government just let the tabacco companies grow and sell the pot, then tax it heavily, it still would probably be cheaper than current US black market prices.

Yes, I know. But if you look at the prices of medicinal pot in the US at this moment (on Overgrow for example), then I think that OTC would be even more expensive.. I wouldn't be logical for a government (especially the American government) to significantly lower the prices.
