Legal advice please! Caught with DMT, MDMA, mushrooms...

I've been charged with simple possession of the above substances (3 felonies) and a misdemeanor possession of weed in Virginia. Long story short I was a passenger in a car, the driver was pulled over by a state trooper for "swerving within the lane"; he said he smelled pot, searched and sobriety-tested the driver (he passed, nothing was found) and I was searched and shortly after, busted lol. I made sure to say I didn't consent to the search, but the trooper said he could search for weapons and proceeded to reach in my pockets and pull out the cigarette pack that contained the bud and an empty dip tin that held the molly caps, mushies, and dmitri. The weirdest part was the cop let us go after writing me a summons and taking the trips to the lab for analysis. So regardless of whether or not this search was quasi-illegal or whatnot, my preliminary hearing is coming up and needless to say I'm very nervous. I'm currently a Biochem major at a top undergrad school and I have dreams of going to med school and becoming a doctor. I'm 19 years old and I've never had a prior run-in with the law, not even a speeding ticket. My parents hired a great lawyer but he hasn't been very straightforward with me other than that I will most likely not go to jail and hopefully I will get a deferred prosecution and if I'm lucky, get the felonies wiped from my record-- but I'm not so sure about this. Has anyone had a similar situation to this? Am I just fucked? Will this prevent me from getting into med school/ residency programs? A big concern is that even if I somehow manage to get into med school and pass the exams I won't be able to practice because the DEA will deny me clearance to prescribe/ handle medicines.

Well, I'll tell you that I am currently an allopathic resident and I got a DWI at the age of 21 which I was able to expunge from my record and have never had to report. Lawyers can manage quite a bit. Good luck!

I was caught PHYSICALLY smoking weed on federal property a few years ago and I got away. Make sure your lawyer actually gives a shit, my lawyer did and got me off with a $20 court fee.

My friend was caught with a few MDMA tabs and got away because the cops did the exact same thing. Let him go after taking his shit, and for some reason he didn't get in any trouble because of that. Is there evidence it was yours, like physical shit like it being in your wallet?

i had a similar experience around 6 months ago. Task force acquired a warrant for my house from my room mate selling coke and they found MDMA, weed, and alprazolam in my room. THey also didn't arrest me when they found it, and took me to jail a couple months later. I got the xanax and weed charges dropped and got a deferred felony for the MDMA. If you get a deferred sentence, just make sure you do everything right and don't fuck up probation or whatever and you will most likely be able to get your record sealed (although it can take up to 10 years, at least in my state, it's probably different in VA) Good luck with everything dude
